    Hey!

I have an Apator JS 4 water meter, I would like to read water usage from it in a wired way (currently I use an AT-WMBUS-16-2 radio overlay and I am not satisfied - readings often lost and the receiver 30 cm from the meter). The AT-MBUS-NE-02 pulse module is hard to get (and quite expensive). I'm wondering how to put together its equivalent myself. Does this water meter send a pulse by an electromagnetic field (in which case a Hall sensor should do the job), or do you have to play around with reading the color transition from white to black on this rotating disc (RGB sensor then - but that's more fun).

So in short: does anyone know how the Apator JS 4 meter transmits the pulses?

    Greetings,
    Paul.

Does this water meter have a rotating mirror, part of which is black and part reflective ?
What do you want to do next with these impulses ?

    Yes.

Wire to ESP32. The ESP32 is controlled by the ESPHome and the Home Assistant. In ESPHome, pulse counting is virtually free: https://esphome.io/components/sensor/pulse_counter.html
