Hello everyone,

I have designed a simple integrating circuit using CA3140 op-amp, 3M ohm resistor and 1 micro farad capacitor. But i am not able to get an step ramp output signal in my CRO.

I request if anyone advice me what must be wrong or any changes do i need to do for my circuit to get a good step ramp output.

Hi,

In order to generate a ramp signal, you need to build a circuit like this one: http://www.piclist.com/images/www/hobby_elec/e_ckt17.htm, that uses 2 op-amps, or you could also use a transistor as a constant current source to charge a capacitor at a constant current to generate a ramp voltage across it...

And if it's a "step" waveform you are looking for, how about a counter feeding a DAC.

Or, how about a diagram of what you got?

Hello Valentin,

I appreciate for your advice and solution.

But i am looking for a step ramp as you said its correct if i use 1 opamp (ca3140) i may get negative step ramp. Then i need to use second opamp to get the step ramp in positive. Your circuit diagram is showing sawtooth.
i will attach my circuit design.

Is it possible you can put up a circuit diagram as the integrating op amp will not generate a signal unless you stimulate it with something?
