there has been some discussion around here of possibly using ethernet as a communication bus for a system. The modules are DIN mounted and connect together with a pass-through parallel connector scheme at the base. I think Phoenix makes the modules. Physically, would that work? The distance is no more than 20 inches with multiple modules connected together. Has anyone done this before?

Not so much using this as bus line more interfacing with pic or embedded micro I think even have an article on this somewhere let me back to you on this and ill upload the article for you although to be honest it seems a little sensless doing this if you consider that major pc motherbourd mnfrs are considering a fibre optic appoach to bus lines

This is one of the articles re tcp ip on pic there are quite a few do a search on interfacing pic micro to ethernet or tcp ip on pic

I looked into this a number of years ago but my knowledge of this was limited so ive left this on the shelf untill i had far greater indepth knowledge micos in general plus networking at the physical level with packet formation how the tcp ip packets are constructed
