How to Identify Component Failure Under Full Load in SMPS Circuit?

Hi,

How would I know if a component breaks down under full load? for example in the SMPS circuit . so its very grateful if someone can help me to clarify this problem.

It's very much tangled up with the definition of "full load" -- what is determining this condition of _full load_? If it's the component in question, then it shouldn't breakdown -- if it was spec'ed properly.

Otherwise, you must consult a datasheet and apply that knowledge in whatever way is appropriate.

Like Todd said watch for the smoke to come out of it or be careful with the rating of the component used, for e.g. if you have a 12v power supply capable of giving an output of 1amp then a Full load would be (Assuming perfect conditions)
V/I=12/1->12 ohm. This is Ok but power dissipation in the load would be V*I=12*1-->12 watts. if your load is not capable of handling that much of power it would fry up:-).

A good rule-of-thumb is to use a part with 1/2 the power rating of the max power it will be subjected to -- mainly used for resistors, but works in other cases as well -- again, vagueness begets vagueness
