Arc discharge power supply

I am looking for design of power supply to carry out arc discharge experiments. Requirements for power supply are to provide constant current of approx. 100-150 amp at voltage of 40-50 V. Input to the system should be standard single phase AC ( UK). i searched for ready power supply but they are very expensive. i will be grateful if anybody provides me with circuit diagram for such circuit.

The device you want is a 7500 watt switching power supply having constant current control. This is a major undertaking to design and build and much money can be expended in failed power transistors or MOSFETs.

You might want to purchase a used Advanced Energy MDX, MDXII, or Pinnacle power supply for high quality power. Ebay lists these. While they are designed to be powered from 3-phase power they should run when powered off of DC. The DC can be obtained by rectifying and filtering single-phase AC. Repairing one of these power supplies is not easy and the price of the switching transistors is not low. The MDX uses Darlington bipolar transistors, the MDXII uses the BUF-460 and the Pinnacle uses MOSFETs. At one time I worked for Advanced Energy.

If you don't have a need for high quality power a welding power supply might be what you need.
