High resistance grounding reduced the magnitude of transient over-voltages, improved system and equipment fault protection, and safety for personnel during installation and maintenance. The main disadvantage of this system is the expenses and maintenance of high grounded facilities.
Solid grounding and low resistance grounding produces ground fault current which damages the equipments. It has an ease of maintenance since there are few components to be considered but it gives more electric-shock hazards to personnel that is caused by stray ground-fault currents.
