We just made a test fixture to measure the resistance of automotive spark plug wires. It works, but my boss wants to reduce the time it takes for each wire. I am giving it about 1/3 to 1/2 second from connecting the wire to taking the reading. This is so it can come down from high to near the actual value. I think they call this "Settle Time".
He thinks a faster meter will help (1,000 readings per second vs 60), but I am not sure. I think it will just give us a lot more data points and I will still need the 1/2 second.
So, who is right? Also, why does it take time?
Thanks!
Steve
