Im currently trying to build a circuit on BCD 7segment up down counter with thumbwheel switch and im totally clueless on what kind of components should be used and how the circuit is to be formed. Please help me

The following link gives schematics/information for a digital counter that has 3 decades (i.e. 0-999) and is constructed using 7-segment LED displays. A CD4553 BCD Counter in conjunction with a CD4511 BCD-to-7 segment driver forms the basis of the event/counter circuit (no microcontroller required).
