Hi.
Short backstory. I'm doing a university project, and it involves a server inside a vacuum chamber (sealed from environment).
Thing is the power button is one this little board here: https://imgur.com/8uhDkpU (the one right beside my thumb); and this is the back of it:https://imgur.com/AfT74nC
While the entire server has to be in the chamber, the button should be outside. There are 13 wires to it.
My current idea is that I weld a KJL flange on my chamber which is a 15-pin d-sub, like this: https://imgur.com/eSC1rgW (front) and https://imgur.com/ycikn17 (back).
Then I would cut the 13 wires somewhere along the middle of their length, and solder them onto 13 of the 15 pins, matching 1-to-1 on each side of the flange.
Reason I'm choosing this flange is for its sealing purposes.
So before I jump into doing this, I'd like to ask for opinion if that would work, or will it be a stupid idea? I'm a mechanical engineer, and only a student at that, so I've hardly touched electronics before. Really don't want to cause some short/open circuit for my server.
Thank you.
