Can I Splice Tethered Joystick to Skid Steer Electric Over Hydraulic Controls for Backhoe?

Hello, I come to you all for help. Not sure I am on the right forum for assistance? If any of you have ideas of other forums that might be better please let me know. Let me try to be brief of what I wanted to do and if anyone can help details will come as they develop in thread.

I have a backhoe attachment for my skid steer that you have to climb off of and then enter cab of machine to reposition yourself and the machinery.
The existing setup is I guess what you call electric over hydraulic 4-way joystick with a multitude diagonal joystick input/output too.  I wanted to know if I could splice a tethered connection to this existing joystick controller in the machine and connect to a mounted  joystick on the backhoe control panel so I can reposition machine without leaving the backhoe seat?

In summary, that is what I want to do. If the above is possible, I would also like to wire an engine kill for safety as well as throttle control to idle up machine if more power needed while using backhoe.

I have the pdf shop manual that probably has electronic schematic that I can get to anyone who can help.

Hi Brian-First, sorry for the delay in responding. This is a relatively new forum and we're still working out some kinks.It sounds like what you want to accomplish is certainly feasible, and it sounds as though you've got a good grasp in the safety concerns involved.  Above all, be careful, and test thoroughly before use modified equipment, especially if bystanders are present.I think the first step is to make sure the control system is as you describe- just switches and solenoid valves.  Some skid steers have a CAN bus digital control system which might complicate things. If it really is just switches and solenoid valves, then paralleling a second joystick across the primary one should work.Do you have a schematic you could post?  We may be able to offer more advice.-Rick     

Brian, there's not really enough information to answer you here.  Is the joystick switches, or potentiometers, or hydraulic? I would suspect switches, in which case they can be fairly easily  replaced (or functions duplicated) by relays to allow you to have a separate control joystick.  If you can scan and post the circuit diagram (or the relevant part)  from the manual that would be a good starting point.
The kill switch should also be easy, but the throttle might be more difficult if it is a mechanical linkage - you'd need some kind of motor to do that.  But older car cruise controls used to work on this principle, nothing's impossible.....PS Sorry, Rick must have been typing at the same time as me.  Great minds think alike

Thanks! I will investigate later tonight. I am out of town and might not have access to shop manual at home until next week. I wish I brought it with me!  I might be able to investigate the exploded parts diagram for replacement parts on Case website and figure out a few things or post links for you guys to look at
to answer the throttle part, I know there is a non cable actuator (electronic lever) in cab. so I am assuming it might be able to be tapped intoIt is a late model Case TR310, but I don't expect you guys to do my homework so let me see if I can hopefully help you guys help me

maybe I am going about this in wrong direction. How about rigging up control of backhoe from within the cab?? then I would not need to tap into any existing skid steer wiringwhat do you guys guess would be possibility of rigging the BH attachment to be used in cab? it could be a tethered system and like joysticks on your lap?here are links to BHhttp://www.erskineattachments.com/backhoe

some other thoughts. would it be easier to modify the 6-spool hydraulic backhoe controls and tether a remote joystick while sitting in cab of machine? I have a schematic of hydraulic spool I can try to post. Is there where solenoids would be used?
another thought...literally buy a case "joystick" control that probably is pre wired and than could that be spliced in wire for wire and extend and mount the new Case joystick out on the back hoe?
