I agree with Rick -- this is an unbounded question -- for example, my first reaction was that there are lots of job opportunities for electrical engineers available in factories / industrial control. Now, what sort of facility would you like to work in: Automotive, aerospace, chemical engineering, robotics...

FYI According to the Wikipedia: Electrical engineering has now subdivided into a wide range of subfields including electronics, digital computers, computer engineering, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, robotics, radio-frequency engineering, signal processing, instrumentation, and microelectronics. Many of these subdisciplines overlap with other engineering branches, spanning a huge number of specializations such as hardware engineering, power electronics, electromagnetics & waves, microwave engineering, nanotechnology, electrochemistry, renewable energies, mechatronics, electrical materials science, and much more.I think it's safe to say that there are LOTS of  diverse job opportunities available in electrical engineering

I am French and I am currently studying electrical engineering to obtain a higher technician's certificate.
I chose this branch of engineering because I think it is the most important one today.Very few devices are developed to work without electricity. Even cars are now electric. Electricity is just about everywhere around the world.

However, how can one, having studied electrical engineering, work in oil and gas? Is it through energy production? If so, why separate them?

Additionally, I don't understand why computer engineering is a sub-category of electrical engineering. Perhaps it is simply because in France we have broken down electrical engineering into several disciplines and kept only the power and control part of industrial circuits for electrical engineering.

Finally, I wanted to know if it would be better to become a teacher to work for a while as an employee in a company, resigning later and going back to school to take the teacher's diploma, or if it would be better to do all your studies and not have any practice but a well-acquired theory
