Recently I found a very interesting website which I decided to share here. it holds the library information (I think around 15,206,168 so far) of many electronic components (schematic symbol, footprint, 3D, datasheet). even if the component does not exist in the database, it can be designed online quickly, or it could be ordered to be designed for free!
At least from today, I will not waste my time to design footprints and/or schematic symbols. I can remember my mistakes in the footprint design or PINs order and frustrations afterward:-)

Hi Sam- I've been using it the library loader for a while and the first couple of parts I needed were available in it but most others were not. Unfortunately it only seems to work with parts that are carried by Mouser. I just took a look at the link you provided and it looks like the library loader on Mouser is only a subset of what SamacSys offers. I'll have a closer look at this.Digi-Key has partnered with Ultra Librarian for component libraries. It looks like they have many more parts in their library but it doesn't export directly in Diptrace format (the CAD system I prefer to use). I can export the footprints, symbols, and 3D libraries in other formats that Diptrace can import, though.It seems like I found another source for footprints symbols, and 3D models a while back, but my memory is failing me at the moment. Perhaps our readers can suggest other sources for this information too.-Rick.

Actually, in my case, it also happened that the two parts were not found in the database, although the database is bigger than 15 million.
But for one of them I could design it online quickly and for another one, I simply ordered to the website. in the first case, the part was ready immediately and in the second case, in less than 24 hours, I received an Email that the missing part information is now ready for the download. Have you used this service? it is free

When I was checking their website, they have the partnership with many well-known brands such as RS components, mentor graphics, Samsung and so on. that's the reason I selected them

Hi Sam-I have downloaded a few footprints and 3D models. I did not know you could design parts online using their service, and I have not requested that they design one. I'm curious- if you design a part online, is it immediately available for anyone to download? Does anyone check it for accuracy before it is published?That's an interesting site.-Rick

Yes, it does. The component will be checked for accuracy before it could be available for the public download.

That's interesting to hear. I'll have to check it out further when I'm back in PCB design land again.I've used snapEDA.com a few times. They also allow you to create a symbol and footprint on their website as well, if it doesn't already exist. It has a Verification Checker (Beta) that checks these details as well. It covers Altium, OrCad/Allegro, Eagle, KiCAD, PADS, Proteus, PCB123 and Pulsonix. Sorry Rick, no Diptrace.
I've been burned with crappy libraries before (Designspark's PCB Part Library), so I'm a little cautious in trusting anything. It's a mess when footprints are wrong.

I was working on a PCB this morning and needed a 3D model of a Bourns 3386W trimpot. Componentsearchengine.com said they had it, but had to build it. SnapEDA didn't have it. Ultra Librarian on Digikey had a STEP model that did the trick!
Glad we've got multiple options. Today Ultra Librarian from Digi-Key wins.
