Wireless Charging System for 2S 18650 7.4V 1500mAh RC Car Battery Design

Hello guys 
I want to built a wireless charging system to charge a 2S 18650 7.4V 1500mAh rc car battery. Can anybody give me some information on this ?

Hi Panagiotis-Most of the small wireless charging systems in use todays are based on the Qi charging specification.  The specification itself is fairly complex, but don't despair.  There are lots of off-the-shelf Qi charging IC's and charging pickup coils available. Go to your favorite distributor's website and search on "wireless charging"  or "Qi" and you should get some hits. Pick an IC and coil that will give you 5 volts DC. The next step is to go back the the distributor's website and pick a battery charging IC that will handle two series 18650 cells.  hopefully you can find one that has internal "boost" circuitry, because you'll need to increase your available 5 volts to something greater than 7.4 volts to charge the batteries.  If you can't find one that has an internal "boost" function, you'll need to add a boost regulator chip to step the voltage up before you feed it into the charging chip.Be aware that wireless charging is not very efficient, so don't be surprised if it takes many hours to fully charge the battery pack.-Rick

Hello Rick ! Thank you for your responseI found one set that has an output of 5V and 1A really cheap. And I also found one that has an output of 12V and 2A. Does the second option suit my needs? Do I need an IC with internal boost with the second one? Also can you suggest a charging IC with internal boost if I go with the first choice (5V,1A)?  As I am a Mechsnical engineer student with limited knowledge of electrical.Thank you again

If you found a charger that delivers 12 volts at 2 amps, then you are correct- you don't need the boost circuit.  Could you post a link to that charger?  It sounds useful.
As for the charger IC for the 18650 batteries- Take a look at the MAX1757 .  I think it will do the job nicely.-Rick

Hi RickI made a mistake, it’s not output 12V /2A .I have found this one which have the following specs: Input voltage: 12V Maximum load current: 1.1AThe max output voltage and current of receive: 5V / 2A, 12V / 700mAIf I use a 12V adapter connected to the transmitting coil, then connect the receiver coil to a MT3608 DC to DC step up boost converter, and then connect it to a TP4056 charging board (with protection). Will I be able to charge my 2cell 18650 batteries ? Will adjust the booster to approximately 9V, what would be the current running through ? Will it be enough to charge the battery pack ? Thank you
