Wireless Transceiver Options for 5Mbps AES/EBU Digital Audio Serial Stream

I have a device that sends AES/EBU (digital audio) data at 5mbps over a cable to another device that receives the serial stream and decodes it. I would like to replace the cable with a wireless system. After researching this for a couple of weeks, I've come up empty-handed. I looked at XBee transceivers, but the only one I could find that was capable of 5mbps is geared toward WiFi, and I couldn't find a way to make it transmit/receive a simple digital serial stream. Many other devices seemed to have the same issue-too much complexity for what seems to be a simple problem. I've also found several devices that appear to do exactly what I want, but not at the rate that I need. I'm not exactly an expert at RF, so I can see that there's very likely something I'm missing, but it seems like there should be devices that transmit/receive an arbitrary serial stream even at the high rate that I need (5mbps). In a nutshell, I need a device that doesn't care about protocol or baud rate...just something that simply transmits/receives a zero when there's a zero and a one when there's a one-and be able to do it at up to 5mbps (VERY simple diagram below). Can someone point me in the right direction?

Since this is a global forum, it would help if you identified where you are located.  Most of the industrialized world have strict regulations for any type of radiating device.  With that in mind, I need to know what nation, what distance you have to cover for range, and what is the existing point-point interface (apparently digital logic).Once I have this information, I may be able to help in suggesting a solution.

Sure, thanks for your response.  I'm located in the U.S.A., I need around 100 feet of range at most (I could probably live with 60 feet), and the interface is 3.3V digital logic.

There is some gear out there, for example thisAuthorities world wide control the frequency spectrum, since there is a finite range of frequencies available. Within the spectrum  frequency bands have been allocated, as well as a channel  width and spacing, it may be one, or  many. Additionally, power limits are set. They are not necessarily the same from country to country.
The ISM bands, particularly those in the low GHz range, 2.4 and 5, are typically used for this type of application. For example, the 2.4GHz  ISM band is broken up into many 5MHz channels. To get the bandwidth for your sort of  application  it is therefore common to encode data, use complex modulation schemes, FDM, and so on, to achieve  the data rate across as few channels as possible.Have a look at the Nordic Semi  nRF2460, should give you some idea of the sort of technology needed to stream 16 bit audio PCM.Cheers,

Thanks, Richard.  I've actually looked into the XIRIUM, and found it to be too expensive, discontinued (I think), and overly complicated for what I want to do (it supports networking of digital audio devices, and I only need a single, one-directional, point-to-point pair).  I definitely think you're right about the ISM band...from my research, it seemed like a natural that whatever I used would have to be in this band.
