Hi, I am looking to do some initial exploratory work into a RF project, and it would be nice to have the ability to do S-parameter simulations. I have used Agilent/Keysight ADS in the past, but I got a quote on that, and it is out of the budget at this point. Are there any other good software packages that offer S parameter simulation at a lower price? Some level of component synthesis (like all the tools/utilities ADS comes with) would be nice too

As far as simulators go, there is a basic one called Qucs studio which allows S parameter file entry. There is documentation out there for it. I have never used it myself, but it may be worth a look.Cheers,Richard

Thanks, Richard, for the link. Qucs studio is Windows-only. See the FAQ page for links to Qucs and Qucs-S, which can run on Linux. Qucs, the original project, can also run on OS-X.
