Analog Controlled VGA for 2.16GHz, 0–14dB Gain, Budget-Friendly Options?

Hi! I need help finding a VGA (Variable Gain Amplifier) that works @2.16Ghz with amplification from 0 to 14db max. it needs to be cheap since i need 16 of them , and also has to be analog controlled. Thanks! 

A bit more info would help.However, have a look at what Analog Devices have to offer. Don't expect drvices to do this sort of thing to be cheap, and also expect the packaging to be difficult to use, hand soldering is likely to be impossible (read reflow soldering), and good RF layout absoluely essential.Cheers,Richard

Hi! thanks for the info. Am building a phase shifter based on the control of 4 independent Gains provided by this VGA. The application is for a smart antenna that works at 2.16Ghz. Since the antenna is an array of 4x4 i need 4 of this phase shifters, one for each row. Needless to say am the one who designs the microstrip layout and the one who is going to solder it (by hand). I saw a couple of videos on how to solder LFCSP packages and didn't thought it would be imposible but i do not have any experience with this type of devices.Any tip would be well received!Thanks! 

It can be done, but if it you don't get it right you will end up damaging your board or components. You would be best to make up some  simple test boards with provision for a few ICs, and buy any old cheap LFCSP device and practice. See this Analog Devices app note  about the package and how to work with it, in particular things like the solder mask for the center pad.However, I would strongly suggest  that there are two better options. Use a reflow oven, they can be made quite cheaply, and there are articles about them on the web, they come as kits or are pre built. Otherwise, some fabrication houses will do small runs of boards,  even one, they typically hand place the components so you don't need a pick and place file.Cheers,Richard
