Feasibility of Electrostatic Precipitation Air Filter in Wearable Firefighter Mask

Probably a pretty strange question. Im a Firefighter actually,  and a lot of wildland firefighters are looking at some sort of "SCBA design" to protect their airways. So I had a crazy idea and didnt know where to go for help so I figured I'd ask you all. How possible would it be to design an Electrostatic precipitator to be used in a mask? Would it require too much power? Too much weight? It works in large scale smoke stacks but does it scale down to something that could fit in or around a mask that a wildland firefighter could wear?

Electrostatic precipitators work by using a high voltage to charge the particles in the air. The particles are then attracted to a grounded (or oppositely charged) plate which removes them from the air.
I see several problems with scaling this to a mask. First, this requires dangerous voltage levels that would need to be isolated from your face. Second, these high voltages are likely to cause corona discharge or sparking which is NOT something you want any of when fighting a wildfire. And third, the process assumes continuous airflow in one direction.
This idea might have merit for clearing enclosed spaces near wildfires but I don't think it scales well to a mask.
