Best practice for grounding shielded cables: one end vs both ends for noise reduction

During a meeting today one of the management staff asked why we don't shield our cables at both ends. I explained why. He then said that he had recently talked to a friend of his that is an "expert" in the RF area, and his friend says that shielding both ends is better for noise reduction. I can find nothing online after doing some searching for about half an hour. Has anyone ever heard of this? It goes against everything I've ever read or have been told.

Noise is the worst enemy of electronics.
The more you shield, the better.
The noise does not consider the type of electrical connection.
For example, if a 100 meter cable is connected to the ground only at the left end, it does not necessarily have to be fully shielded.
Theoretically it should be grounded for every centimeter, but this is impossible.
A cable is not ideal but is, in reality, a set of electrical components: it has a resistive, inductive and capacitive component. At various frequencies the cable behaves differently.
So it is right to shield it and connect it to ground as much as possible, even in several places.

Add a 2 watt resistor of value 22 ohms or 33 ohms
in series with the ground wire (shield wire of all the signal wires )of the system to the chassis of the equipment
Where the actual earth wire from the mains line of ur mains supply is connected this resistor acts likes
A earth loop balanced net work and reduce s all the noises and all the noises elimilated whe a notice appears a small field is created across the resistor and the noise is delayed entering into the circuit and it is grounded to the earth before entering the circuit .Even if you move your hand near the audio signal line cables no noise will enter your system.Pl check and give me your feed back

There are no clear cut answers on this issue. It can be exceedingly complex. In theory if you have multiple units in screened enclosures, and use metal connectors which take the shield (360 degree coverage) from the cable braid to the metal enclosure, then that is the best you can do. However, power supplies in the units are then likely to be grounded to the metal enclosure for safety reasons if derived from the mains, so earth loops exist. Many enclosures these days are insulated (plastic). Combinations of resistors as has been suggested, common mode chokes, differential amplifiers and drivers, transformer or optical isolation, isolated power supplies (batteries can be good) and more may have to be used. There are whole books written on just this topic, since it is related to EMC control. Solutions may have to be dealt with on a case by case basis, particularly when you may have no control of what may be plugged into a system that you have designed.
