Hello,
I currently have an S21 Ultra and the security updates end January 2026. For my next phone, I'm leaning toward the S25 or S26 when it releases. With the news of Google cracking down on sideloading, I wanted to seek opinions if sticking with Android is still the right move for someone who sideloads apps like revance, mihon, and other open-source applications. Is the news on the crackdown overblown? Is the future bleak for Android?
AI: If Google does make sideloading harder, would you be comfortable using workarounds like ADB, custom ROMs, or third-party app stores to keep sideloading apps?
I don't know
AI: Are you considering switching to another platform like iOS, or are you mainly deciding between different Android options?
Yes
