    Hello.

Is there any clever way to get IE to click on a link to open not a page but a folder that is on your local drive, or even exe-ca?

If it could be done, it would be possible to make an indestructible desktop (web site as a desktop) for Windows 98 by removing all icons from it, and on the desktop page to make linked folder graphics, e.g. Programs, Games, and links that directly launch some basic programs.

Such icons could not be moved or deleted, if you somehow blocked saving to the desktop and changing screen settings in Win98, you could start talking about some kind of eternal order on the desktop.

You just make a link like: file: /// c: /windows/system32/cmd.exe. If the page is saved on a local disk, it will work.

As for blocking the desktop, if that was it: in 98 you will not block adding new items to the desktop, in 2k and XP you have to take away the right to save in the desktop kaytalog.

Really :-) Both files and folders open smoothly.

If you want to emulate the Windows desktop even more, you would have to think about a script that will open the link only after pressing it twice.

If there is no appropriate event, the click counter + time reset from the last click + moving the link from href to function. But sometimes people just use one ;) (this is to be set probably from version 98SE with ActiveDesktop)
