C: \ Documents and Settings \ Krzysztof Żak \ Desktop
I have been trying to change the value in the register for a long time as in the attached picture and nothing comes of it. I was looking for answers on the web but I am also not able because I ran out of ideas and then you can find the answer.
I changed my username from Krzysztof to Krzysztof Żak and I can't make a successful registry change.
I do it based on:
Quotation: Change the default desktop location
The desktop can be moved to any folder (e.g. instead of on drive C it may be on drive D where there is e.g. more space)
We're changing the desktop path 1. Transfer content from the current desktop to the folder with a new desktop, e.g. the new path is: D: \ Desktop. 2. Start -> Run -> regedit = we open the system registry editor. 3. If we want to change the folder for all users, we are interested in these paths:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders
HKEY_USERS \ .DEFAULT \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders HKEY_USERS \ .DEFAULT \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders
HKEY_USERS \ S-1-5-21-variable numbers \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders HKEY_USERS \ S-1-5-21-variable numbers \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders
In all of them we are interested in the value of Desktop. In Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 we have:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders we are interested in the value of Common Desktop.
In Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 we have: % ALLUSERSPROFILE% \ Desktop (Windows ENG) or % ALLUSERSPROFILE% \ Desktop (Windows PL) replace with a new path (e.g. D: \ Desktop - you must create such a folder beforehand)
After making changes, you must log out (sometimes it is better to restart your computer)
