    Hello

Today I probably have a trivial problem for some - as in the topic.
The point is that in win XP I need to change the creation date of the excel file, the attached picture shows the problem.

Modify Excel File Creation Date on Windows XP: Update Date Circled in Red Square

I know how to change the date from the first picture, but I can't change the date circled in the red square in the picture next to it. I have searched on various forums and unfortunately did not find an answer. It is all about this date, if I fail to change it, it will give me a lot of unnecessary work.

I am asking you for help.

    Thanks in advance

    greetings

Thank you very much :) I'm already looking for a program and go to work. But from what I see, it is an EXIF photo editing program, can it cope with * xls files?

Unfortunately, it's just a jpeg program and I need to change the EXCELA file creation date => * xls

Try it, there are quite a few programs to change these tags.

Well, I already have a few programs, but they all change only the dates from the first picture and none of them changes the field marked by me in red, which appears after we do the following:

1 click on the Excel file with the right mouse button and give properties,
2 we will enter the "Summary" tab
3 click on the "Advanced >>" button
4 and in the 2nd line from the bottom we have something like this (my case to be exact): "Created on 10/26 2005 22:24"

On the other hand, in the "general" tab, there are three dates: creation, modification and last use. These are the dates that I can change with these different programs. I can't change the file creation date, which is just in the summary tab.

Try to pay attention to it, create an excel file and change the dates from the "general" tab using the programs you recommended to me, then you will see that the dates in the summary tab cannot be changed using these programs.

Which does not change the fact that I badly need to change the file creation date from the "summary" tab and I hope it is possible because so far I have been looking for a dozen hours and I have not found an answer ...

I am waiting for your further suggestions.

The one I linked to above changes all three dates: Created, Last Modified, and Last Accessed :)

I know these 3 I can change but read carefully what I wrote and look at the picture and note that the creation date in "general" is 2008, and the creation date in "summary" is 2005. And I want to change it from 2005 to 2008. A I can only change the dates from the "general" tab, and I can't change the second date from the second picture marked with a red frame and I have to do it otherwise I will be screwed up ...

and you cannot create a new file, be it in Excel or OpenOffis, and import data from the old file.

    Quote:
Support for multiple data streams was introduced in Windows NT for Mac compatibility. For a long time, they had no other use in the system. Starting from Windows 2000, the Summary tab is present in the file properties window, where we can save the author, title, etc. This information is saved in the SummaryInformation stream.

Thus, multiple data streams is a feature of the NTFS file system. Therefore, it is enough to copy this file to a disk with the FAT file system (e.g. a floppy disk) to lose this information.
Unfortunately, I can not check it at the moment, because the computer from which I am writing has disks in the FAT file system :(
There is no information on the creation date of the file in my properties / summary / advanced tab. There are only these three dates in the properties / general tab.

It seems to me that this creation date is not saved in the file system but in the excel file content. There is information about editing time, who edited when and so on. The best thing to do is to make a new file and paste the contents of the old one into it.

Just before creating this new one, change the system date to the one you need.

So I did ... I made a new file and transferred the data :) . By the way, thanks for all the help. I consider the topic closed. By the way -> Happy New Year's Eve to all of you :D

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the challenge of modifying the creation date of an Excel file on Windows XP, specifically the date displayed in the "Summary" tab, which differs from the "General" tab. The user seeks a solution to change this date, as existing programs only allow modification of the dates in the "General" tab. Various suggestions are provided, including using programs like NirSoft's FileDateChg and Ninotech Date Edit, but the user finds these ineffective for the specific date in question. Ultimately, a workaround is proposed: creating a new Excel file and transferring the data from the old file, while adjusting the system date to the desired creation date before doing so. The user successfully implements this solution and concludes the discussion.
