How do you design a smart lighting and alarm system?

Hello!
I’m looking for specific information about the systems required for this sort of installation. I know there’s plenty of information online, but looking at websites like this, nothing specific is clear. I’d need installation and setup instructions, descriptions of the module connections, how to connect them to each other, and so on. I need to create a virtual design for a building’s lighting and alarm systems, so I need to know what to connect to what, and have a detailed description of what, where and why. I’ve already asked a few companies for some help, but they weren’t very keen to share it. So I’d be grateful if any of you who work in this field could share the information I’ve described above. There are lots of standards, so I won’t even specify which ones I’m interested in. I was thinking of KNX (EIB), but it all depends on what you can provide for me to build it with. The system would, of course, need to be expandable in the future. We can agree on a price for this, and if there’s more of it, you could, for example, post it to me. I’d also appreciate any advice or perhaps some links to websites I haven’t found yet (although I think I’ve already searched everywhere...)

LCN (smart buildings) runs free training courses (first stage only) on these solutions. I’ve been on one and would recommend it. The training naturally includes practical exercises.

Does anyone know how light dimming works in the LCN system? How is it implemented in this system? Triacs, transistors or perhaps a transformer???
