    Hello

I am going to buy a Mercedes Vito, at a price of max 18,000. PLN and I do not know what engine to look for and what to pay special attention to.
It must be vito because I have always liked it :D and t4 is out of the question (I like it less and they steal).

For the last 10 years I had a transit with which I was happy, but I was disturbed by its typical delivery van appearance, and the Vito has something that has always moved me.

I know that the opinions about the vito are not the best but I have no alternative at this price.
Theoretically, I could add a few thousand. to buy a Renault Trafic or Opel Vivaro but these cars also do not have a good opinion (especially trafic) and I accepted the limit of 18 thousand. zloty.

I was also looking at smaller cars like Kangoo or Doblo but they are a bit small.

Hence, there is only a vito left on the battlefield and at this price I see d, td and cdi engines.
The usual diesel is out of the question (the transit had 70KM and there was a terrible mule) and I don't know about the failure rate and costs of parts and repairs of td and cdi engines.

And generally what to look for when buying a vita? Except for spills and rust, of course.

Could someone scratch something on the subject?
    greetings

Let me tell you honestly, forgive yourself Vito because you will not earn for him. This crap was assembled in Poland at the Jelcz plant. The quality of this car is terrible, the load capacity is tiny 800 kg and the space is also not too rich compared to the T4. The parts are terribly expensive and the failure rate is above average. Take the T4 and don't look back at Vito. If you are already horny, I advise you to check the joints and gear shift cables.

    Thanks for your feedback.
I agree with you. I have been reading forums about vito for a few days and I have been confirmed on the plus side to T4 ..
I was looking at Vivaro and trafika but also bad reviews.
    greetings

    Hello
There are models on the market that were assembled in Spain.
It breaks down like any other car, the prices of parts are also comparable.
During 4 years of operation, the only engine failure was damage to the head gasket. (engine 108d) belt tensioner pulley driving alternator, thermostat.
I don't know how CDI is doing. I also agree that there are a lot of negative opinions about this car (maybe it concerns the cars assembled in Poland).
However, since I heard from a friend (for a furious internet user) that these Vita are not emergency and how much does it cost to repair (I have had the car for 3 years), I gave up asking opinions about cars from online forums and people who heard that ...
I recommend the unaturated engine, despite the fact that it has weaker performance, it is quite pleasant to drive on a bus.
    Regards

When buying a Vito, take into account corrosion. At my father's in the company, rust started to come out already in the yearly Vito, they had to return for complaints. Look for Jumper, Boxer, Ducato.

Unfortunately, I advise against Vito. The 108 models had at least trouble-free engines, while the 112 CDI did not, although the engine was much stronger and more modern. Emergency electrical installation, mechanical damage to poorly secured bundles. Emergency Webasto. And corrosion, but the most troublesome in folded cars in Poland. The history, like with the Peugeot 405 - galvanized and many of the 89-92 vintages, continues to this day without a trace of rust, while those from later years (made in Lublin) are lottery tickets.
On the more positive side, good handling and good comfort for a delivery van.

    Hello!
And we have been thinking about vitek recently :)
We saw a few and when it comes to corrosion, in my opinion, as in every car, there was a well-kept one, preserved with 98 and no rust, it was from 2003, where he certainly did not see any kind of maintenance and a sheet of metal to work.
As for the engines and failure frequency, I also heard different opinions. Some say that they are emergency, but I have friends in transport and they drive Mercedes vito, sprinter and no problems. As for webasto, it may be emergency, but it is :) and t4 is usually absent :)

hello people, listen to the nailepjes and check for yourself, besides, how can you compare the vito, it is only a super auto t4 passenger car, the other way around as a bus, because for a passenger car it is not suitable for a stiff and tilting suspension and an engine only 2.5, I know because I have been using it for years anyway the only successful car that I use and hello I have as a passenger car for 5 years and I am happy, it has 450,000 and it flies and it is not any more failure than the t4 and bad opinions are given by people who only drive the car and they have no ideas

I had and I have a Vito with a reliable 2.3D engine without a turbine. Apart from corrosion, I can't say anything bad. The car is literally tyra, its task is to carry a transportable workshop. If you care about oil, belt and roller changes plus regular pad replacement, the cars have really high mileage. For several hundred thousand, I have replaced the axle shafts of the wheel bearings and now the upper shock absorber bearings and a set of gear rods. For this suspension, rod ends, shock absorber bushings, etc. I would say only consumables. An interesting fact is still the original clutch. And the car towed heavier cars more than once. If you are not crazy, it will not sleep much and it will last a long time. For me, one of the cheapest cars to use.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around purchasing a Mercedes Vito within a budget of 18,000 PLN, focusing on engine options such as D, TD, and CDI models. Participants express mixed opinions about the Vito's reliability, with some highlighting issues like high failure rates, expensive parts, and corrosion, particularly in models assembled in Poland. Others mention that models assembled in Spain may have better reliability. The 108D engine is noted for being trouble-free, while the 112 CDI is criticized for electrical issues and mechanical failures. Recommendations include checking for rust and considering alternatives like Jumper, Boxer, or Ducato. Overall, while some users report satisfactory experiences with the Vito, caution is advised due to potential maintenance costs and reliability concerns.
