Opel Vivaro car - which engine to choose?

Which diesel engine is the better choice for an Opel Vivaro delivery van: the 1.9-liter 101/102-hp engine or the 2.5-liter 145/150-hp engine?

Of the two engines, the 2.5-liter is generally recommended because it is considered a good, proven choice with no major engine problems reported in the thread [#15998138] The 1.9-liter can also be reliable if the oil is changed every 10,000–15,000 km rather than following excessively long manufacturer intervals [#16002614] However, one owner reported repeated gearbox, clutch, and other drivetrain problems with two 2.5-liter vehicles, while a 2.0-liter vehicle had no such issues apart from oil condition [#16051142] The 2.0-liter is another acceptable option, but its injectors are expensive and may seize in the cylinder head [#15998138] Therefore, choose the best-maintained individual van, with the 2.5-liter preferred over the 1.9-liter if their condition and service history are comparable.

1.9 is an engine with incl. Lagoons. Read on.

2.5 is a good choice, it drives in Master, no major problems. 2.0 is also very ok, only very expensive injectors, which can weld due to the poor structure of the casing.

1.9 with Renault are not bad in themselves if the oil changes normally, i.e. every 10-15 thousand, and does not believe in the manufacturer's nonsense with long oil intervals.

Buddy, all these cars are produced at the Renault plant in France. I had Trafiki and Vivaro, there were Renault signs on all the parts I saw. What's the difference between them? Upholstery patterns, steering wheels, dummy, bumper (directions front but before lift) a different font on the dial of the counter and the fact that the "servo" indicator in Renault is replaced with "car key" in Opel. I have not noticed any other differences.

I used Master from 2.5 and Traffic from 2.0 (both from '07) and with the Master there were problems with the hardware over and over again.

You can expand a little, I mean those hardware issues. I saw a Mastery with a 2.5 engine with mileage of 600-700 thousand. In the fast courier PL-> west, they mostly use Master machines. Previously with 2.5 engines now 2.3.

We had the most problems with the gearbox or the clutch, the drive in general, at least twice a year, it was the same in 2 copies, the electrics had the immo and the alarm. There were no problems at Traffic except for the oil condition. All domestic cars.

Topic summary

LABEL_AI_GENERATED
The discussion revolves around choosing the best diesel engine for the Opel Vivaro delivery van, specifically comparing the 1.9 (101 km) and 2.5 (150 km) engines. Participants suggest that the 2.5 engine is a reliable option, commonly used in the Master model, while the 1.9 engine, associated with Renault, is also considered decent if maintained properly with regular oil changes. Concerns are raised about the cost of parts and potential issues with injectors in the 2.0 engine variant. Overall, the consensus leans towards the 2.5 engine for better performance, although the 1.9 has its merits if well cared for. The discussion also highlights that the Vivaro shares many components with Renault models, indicating similarities in parts and maintenance considerations.
