This type of Citroen, as well as most others, count the mileage in kilometers until the next service. The fact that the key with the remaining mileage to be serviced is displayed after you turn the ignition on and for a moment after starting the engine is normal in this car.

PS I assume that you have removed the inspections.

Thank you for your response, but I need to complete the description of the problem. I have already deleted this key several times in accordance with the C4 factory instructions, and yes, the key disappeared when the countdown visible on the upper display screen reached the value 10 ... 9 ... 5 ... 1 and zero. The joy continues until the engine is turned off, after the next start I have the key again next to the total mileage and this small key travels with me all the time. Please help me, how to part with it, whether the ELM 327 v.1.3a interface can do anything here.

C4 has the function of deleting inspections ''manually'', i.e. you press the TRIP button on the desktop and turn the ignition on. The computer counts down from 10 to 0. When it counts down to 0, you release the button, turn off the ignition and turn it on again and it should be ok. Elm 327, nothing. will do.

I performed this procedure, but when I started the car the next morning, the key returned to its previous position next to the number indicating the mileage of the car, does it have to be like this?

If I may, I will ask about this topic.
I cleared the inspection (key) in my C4 in the same way and it showed 18,000 km, but this value does not decrease despite everyday driving. What could be the reason?

Probably because the values change abruptly. They don't know what progress. But not less than 100 km. Apparently you haven't traveled long enough to change the indications.

    1700 km - it would make a difference :D

Somewhere after 2000 km it started and subtracted after 100 km.

To effectively clear the inspections, you need to use a different button combination. Any hints about the battery, refilling fluids, etc. are irrelevant.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the persistent reappearance of the key symbol on the dashboard of a 2005 Citroen C4 after starting the engine, despite following the factory instructions for clearing the inspection key. Users confirm that the key symbol is normal during ignition but should not reappear after proper reset procedures. The recommended method involves pressing the TRIP button while turning on the ignition, allowing the countdown to zero, and then turning off and restarting the ignition. However, some users report that the key symbol returns after the vehicle is restarted, indicating a potential issue with the reset process. The ELM 327 interface is mentioned but deemed ineffective for this specific problem.
