How do I set the D: \ drive as the default drive where all data will be saved? For example, I wanted to install GG but on the C drive I only have 30MB free and nothing will work: / This is also the case with GTA installation. I wanted to install the game on the D drive with 146GB of space, but the 300MB goes to C: / What to do?

As far as I know, you can change the drive letters, but in this case it won't change anything. You need to create a folder Program files on the D drive and install the programs there. The default disk is selected only during system installation. greetings

You want all applications to be installed on the D: drive by default. Here you go. http://www.centrumxp.pl/SkrzynkaPytan/1842,1,Jak_zmienić_domyślny_folder_dla.aspx

By the way, you might have made the C: partition a bit larger during the installation of the system, unless C: and D :, are quite separate drives. Either way, the 30MB leftover on the system drive is far too little.

Very rarely, but I have met with such a case that when the system was installed on the C drive and all games and programs on D, there was a problem with launching the application. Maybe it is better to increase the size of the C disk with eg parition magic?

There could be a problem if the application wanted to be accessed by a user who did not have permission to access the disk or partition D: Otherwise, these problems do not occur. Unless, if necessary, the given application must be installed on C:

    Thanks for advice!
I used Partition Wizard Home Edition. I moved some capacity from D to C and now I have more space on that drive. Subject to be closed.

Topic summary

To set the D: drive as the default location for saving data and installing applications like GG and GTA, users can create a dedicated folder on the D: drive for program installations. Modifying the Windows registry can also change the default installation path by adjusting the ProgramFilesDir entry. However, caution is advised as some applications may require installation on the C: drive or may face permission issues accessing the D: drive. Additionally, users can consider moving virtual memory to the D: drive to free up space on C:. In this case, the user successfully increased the C: drive space using Partition Wizard Home Edition.
