    Hello,
First of all, I’d like to point out that I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the right category.

I’m tasked with designing a smart home, and the systems to be included will comprise, amongst other things, an audio-video system and a fire alarm system.

I have a question regarding these two systems.

    1) What should the AV system look like, as I can’t find anything to help me with the implementation?

    2) Fire alarm system – is it better to connect the detectors and alarms to the control panel via a wired connection or wirelessly?

    3) Would it then be possible, for example, to connect the alarm control panel to a PC?
I assume the control panel should have an output for connecting to a PC and that the manufacturer should provide some software?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Please let me know whether this is to be a theoretical or practical project, and what equipment you have available

This is just a theoretical project, so I’m interested in any suggestions, regardless of the equipment.

In other words, as far as the audio-video system is concerned, I’m interested in what equipment I should install there and what the overall setup looks like. From what I’ve managed to find on Google so far, I understand that there will be some sort of player in one room and the signal will be distributed to the other rooms from there? What sort of cables should I use? Is it possible to integrate this with the LAN network in some way?

Do you want to build a fire alarm system based on an alarm control panel or a separate fire alarm control panel?
All in all, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s wired or wireless, apart from the fact that the batteries need replacing every few years; personally, I prefer wired systems, where the cables are fire-resistant, of course :P .

I don’t usually connect alarm control panels to a computer, although a company such as SETEL does have a dedicated network card for this purpose; it allows you to visualise the status of the control panel’s inputs and outputs and provides remote access to the system via the internet – quite a nifty feature.

    Hello
    As for the video:
A TV card for a PC isn’t exactly cheap. However, if you want to use a computer for that, why not? Have a look at PCI cards. Check how many inputs they have – though you won’t be able to do without a video selector switch.

I have the eHouse smart home system installed in my house which features built-in control of audio and video playback from Winamp directly via a Sony infrared remote control.
The entire system can be controlled using this remote, amongst other things. In addition, the controllers can operate hi-fi and video equipment (by emulating a remote control – you can teach the system the control codes and then activate them)
