Advances in modern technology in electronics, information technology and automation are leading to their integration into many other fields – including the construction industry. The term ‘intelligent building’ first appeared in the 1980s. This term refers to buildings of various purposes and sizes, such as office blocks, retail premises, industrial facilities, banks, schools, hospitals, residential buildings, private homes, etc., which have an integrated management and monitoring system.
