I bought a used Siemens dishwasher and I would like to know what its individual containers and markings are for so that I can use it properly. Namely, when I turn on the dishwasher, one LED lights up in red (as in the picture below) and I do not know what it means, I would also like to know what the other one will add next to it (with these arrows).

And now the 2nd part: in the dishwasher there is a knob with the word salt - salt. [fig.1.] After unscrewing, a little water poured out of it, and the container is full [fig.2.]. I think that salt is falling there, I found some salt at the bottom [Fig. 3.], the smaller one I put in yesterday, but only a little, because I don't know how much. Somewhere on this forum I found the answer that you can refill this container to the full and that up to 1.5 kg of salt can enter there. Can I pour it full or rather not?

And I would be very grateful if someone would tell me what it is for: you put a tablet on the right side, but on the left?

What is set inside with this arrow?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

The S with arrows is the salt refill indicator. When it is not shining, there is salt.
You can sprinkle salt as far as it goes.

    Asterisk for rinse aid.
Does this arrow knob twist completely? If so, pour the rinse aid under them, also until the stop, and the number means how much the dishwasher dispenses the lip gloss, you have to choose experimentally - after the appearance of the washed dishes.

The knob is unlikely to twist, but rinse aid is poured on it (there is a hole on the side). Besides, everything is correct :)
Salt intended for dishwashers, of course, never kitchen salt.

Download any manual to some Siemens (or to yours, but you did not provide the model), for example this one:

and read how it works in general, because you will hurt yourself or the dishwasher.

My dishwasher is a Siemens S9ET1S.
I have one more question, my dishwasher draws 2.3 kW / 2.5 kW. It is written on the door from above when it is opened. This means that it takes so much energy for 1 hour or for one cycle?

This value corresponds to the power of the heater if the water is heated in a sufficiently short time and it depends on the atmospheric conditions. you know what's going on.

    For what reason?

First, the table salt is too fine and runs through the strainer in the tank.
Second, it contains an iodine supplement.
Third, this is what the instruction manual says.
Fourth, there has already been a very extensive discussion on this subject, so I will not support this anymore.

Tablet salt for industrial softeners can also be used. It is very cheap - as long as someone has a place to keep a 25 kg bag or has many friends with dishwashers ;)

Or he has friends in gastronomy, there are steamers there and you also need to use salt in tablets for them. :D I am asking about these kW values because my mother is still not convinced about the dishwasher, and it seems to me that it is still cheaper than washing by hand. We have a 50l boiler controlled by a clock to heat at the right times of the day to be cheaper (2 tariffs), but even when washing under running water, it comes out more expensive, because hot water pours and pours, and you know how we all want to cook quickly wash off :P .

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around understanding the symbols and functions of the Siemens S9ET1S dishwasher, particularly the salt refill indicator and the correct procedure for adding dishwasher salt. The red LED with an "S" and arrows indicates the need for salt, while the asterisk symbol denotes rinse aid. Users clarified that the salt container can be filled to its maximum capacity, which is approximately 1.5 kg, and emphasized the importance of using dishwasher-specific salt rather than regular table salt due to its finer granules and additives. Additionally, the power consumption of the dishwasher, noted as 2.3 kW / 2.5 kW, pertains to the heater's energy usage during operation. The conversation also touched on the cost-effectiveness of using a dishwasher compared to hand washing.
