    Hello!
I recently purchased this dishwasher and I have a problem, even though the salt container is full, the salt indicator is still on. I wrote to Bosch service, but no one wrote back. On the other hand, the store said that I had poor quality salt (actually some one bought in a supermarket) and that I should not worry about it because I use 5 in 1 tablets anyway. In this salt container there should be water all the time and whether there should be visible salt or you want to make a solution? It annoys me a bit because it is not cheap equipment. Sorry for those questions, but this is my first dishwasher.
Best regards and thank you in advance for your answer.

And did you run it after filling?

In fact, if you use tablets, salt is a pure waste of money.

    YES.

Sprinkle until full. The salt in granules is to be covered with water. Some water will naturally spill out during the pouring. Salt will dissolve as you use it.

Best regards and I wish the dishwasher to run quietly ;-)

The salt sensor in these dishwashers freezes sometimes, but if you can see it through the hole, it's ok!

    Hello.
When you fill the tank with salt for the first time, you need to pour some water into the tank and add salt. If you did not do it, try to stir the salt in the tank with a spoon.

Wait a few days for the salt to dissolve a little, the point is to create a solution with such a density as to raise the magnetic float which will act on the reed switch (sensor) and the lamp will go out.

The amount of salt added is adjustable on many Bosch models from H: 00 to H: 07
No salt is required at the H: 00 setting.
And on this setting, the salt warning will not appear. These values are manipulated depending on the model by holding down the buttons and changing the H value. The manual most often contains information about setting the salt and rinse aid system.

There may have been an accidental hang of the sensor / float or salt caking or even damage to the sensor, there are already several threads on this topic. Or, like with me ( Bosch SPV 66TX01E ), air in the salt layer.

I unscrewed the cap of the salt container, gently put the plastic spoon in the bed and started to move the bed. The salt was loose, not clumping, but a few bubbles of gas flew out of the solution (from the brine) and the salt indicator light went out - after the problem.

Of course, in the instructions about moving the bed, they do not write about problems with the salt control. I think that it is not harmful to the hardware, but you have to do it carefully, e.g. due to the irritating nature of the brine. It stings lightly on the skin, especially chapped or wounded skin. It is worth doing it just before starting the washing, as in the case of adding salt, so that any spilled or spilled brine is rinsed off immediately (otherwise corrosion may start).

Topic summary

The Bosch SMS 50M02EU dishwasher has a persistent salt indicator issue despite the salt container being full. Users suggest that the salt sensor may be frozen or malfunctioning, and recommend ensuring that the salt is properly dissolved in water to activate the sensor. It is noted that using 5-in-1 tablets may render salt unnecessary, and adjustments to the salt setting can be made on various Bosch models. Additionally, some users experienced issues with salt caking or air pockets in the salt layer, which can be resolved by gently stirring the salt. Proper maintenance and following the manufacturer's instructions are advised to prevent sensor problems.
