    Hello

I am looking for information on the software used to control Eaton Moeller’s Xcomfort equipment, i.e. Vision, Xvision or others. Has anyone had the opportunity to work with them – using specific versions – and has any experience or comments to share?

What are the alternatives to Xcomfort for touchscreen control, apart from that?

I personally attended a Moeller training course organised by the Installers’ Club last autumn, which was dedicated to xConfort. During the training, after the theoretical part where the entire system and all its features were discussed, we were given a demonstration kit – a box (remotes, a box with the control unit, wireless modules, control panels) – and we had a go with it. I won’t lie – the system, both in terms of the software and the installation itself, is a breeze, even for a regular customer who wants to set up something like a smart home themselves. Once the actuator and wireless modules have been installed, the entire configuration is carried out wirelessly using software on a computer connected to the control unit. Configuration involves assigning a name and function to a given module and programming the remote controls. The only thing to check is the signal, which is verified via the software; if a module isn’t detected, it’s either not powered or the signal isn’t being received.
Creating a smart home based on this product is a piece of cake. With larger properties featuring significant partitioned areas, problems begin to arise, and to undertake such a project, it would be advisable to run simulations in the software regarding signal strength.
The only downside to this system is the price, but if you decide to make such an investment, you can always negotiate the price with Moeller – a discount of around 30% depending on the total cost of the project.

From what I gather, a colleague is even writing a master’s thesis on this system.

P.S. If you’re interested, there’s currently a series of training courses on Moeller products on the Moeller website under the ‘Installer Club’ link (if you have an account). One of the training courses is xConfort.

Below I’ve included presentations and files from xConfort that I have from autumn 2010 and spring 2011 (files of around 30 MB each due to a slow connection); perhaps some of the files are on the xConfort website – I haven’t checked:

I personally work with Z-Wave. It offers a wide range of possibilities, and installation and configuration are incredibly simple. New products and software for this system are constantly being released, so there’s a really wide choice.

We’ve installed a basic Z-Wave presentation system in our office. I’ve attached screenshots of the web interface, the mobile app interface, and screenshots from our tablet. There are also several other apps available for iPhone, Windows and other platforms.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me privately. I can even grant you temporary access to the server if you’d like.

I can see that both Z-Wave programmes look very decent, but could you confirm whether you are integrating these programmes with the Moeller XComfort system? Because I’m actually looking for software to control XComfort.

No. We use Z-Wave. I think I misunderstood the question. I thought you were asking about alternative systems, but I suppose you meant alternative software. If so, please forgive me.
