Nexwell (NEXO System) – no communication between the control unit and the lighting modules

How can I get Nexwell RGB lighting modules to communicate with the control unit when they are addressed correctly but are not detected on the bus?

The problem was the bus wiring, not the module addressing: the bus should have very low resistance, and in this case moving lines A and B onto different twisted pairs fixed communication. Check continuity from the bus card/galvanic isolator by disconnecting the bus at the splitter, shorting A and B, and measuring the cable resistance with an ohmmeter [#10976261][#10979522] A reading of about 730 ohms was far too high; it should be around 5 ohms in a typical house, and using another pair in the FTP 4x2x0.5 cable was suggested if the original pair was damaged [#10981687][#10982673] After swapping both A and B to different pairs, the resistance dropped to 9 ohms and the system started working normally [#10986948]

    Hello,

I’ve had a Nexwell at home for two years. I’m currently in the process of expanding the system. I’ve bought a few RGB lighting modules with a dimmer for the first floor (because the ones downstairs are really cool :-) ). I’ve connected them to the upstairs distribution board, but they won’t communicate. I read in the manual that they need to be addressed on the bus. I think I’ve set the addresses correctly, but they won’t be detected by the system at all. Perhaps you’ve had a similar problem? All the LEDs are flashing fine and manual circuit switching works.

    Regards

In Nexwell, ensuring the correct continuity of the cables is very important. I have already installed four Nexwell units, and the first thing to check is the continuity of the wires. Presumably, as per Nexwell’s support, your bus cable is FTP 4x2x0.5. Disconnect the bus from the main distribution board at the splitter, short-circuit lines A and B, and check the cable’s resistance with an ohmmeter.

Well, from the bus card (that is, the galvanic isolator) :-)

    Cheers

Be sure to discuss the upgrade with the Nexwell technicians. Check and provide the model numbers of all your devices. Make sure to tell them the date you bought the motherboard. The RGB design is almost certainly newer than your system version.

OK, I've got about 730 ohms

Well, you should be getting around 5 ohms, not nearly 1k (if the house isn’t very big). Perhaps someone damaged the cable during the building work. Use another pair in the twisted pair cable as the bus and see how it goes. Line B is the most important. That’s just from my experience. :D

    OK, it's 9 ohms!

I did a bit of tinkering on Sunday. I swapped the wires on both lines A and B to different pairs. It’s working a treat :)

When purchasing the modules, I consulted Nexwell’s technical department. We carried out the update via the system’s LAN card and the LCD panel. I bought a new bus card for the second network. Thanks anyway

Do you perhaps have any experience with hardware programming?

Have you ever programmed a Nexwell IR module? I’m wondering whether to
    get one?

I've done the programming. It's simple, you can get the hang of it in 5 minutes.

    Here are the instructions

The only difficulty is that there’s no preview of the libraries with added signatures... so you need to make a note of it somewhere.

P.S. Please change the thread title.

How should I modify it? Changing the topic title won’t work either, because my previous question ‘won’t fit’. Perhaps it would be better to create a new topic.
Sorry for asking, but I’m new to using the forum.

I think you can edit the first post and change the subject there. A suitable subject would be, for example:
