    Hello

I have a nice idea for the treatment of available lamps (quinols, so without approval) by adding an LED strip inside. I would like to sell it because little needs to be changed and the price would be attractive and it would be possible to make a living from it ;)

I know that the lamps must be homologated.

    How to obtain such approval?
How much does the approval cost?
I understand that another lamp (different car model) requires its approval, yes?

I would like to calculate everything what and how :)

    EDIT:
I found a lamp manufacturer that has hundreds of different lamps on offer. Did he have to get approval for each of them?

This is an individual issue, if I remember correctly, getting it is around PLN 1,000.

i.e. PLN 1,000 for obtaining approval for the production of one type of lamps (I know that a small change means a new approval is needed).

Please confirm if I am thinking correctly :)

I've heard of the cost many times higher. Because it is not just a stamp issued by an official, but a whole cycle of tests - light distribution in various planes, visibility, resistance to moisture, vibrations, temperature changes. That's not all: the manufacturer must prove that the parameters of the products will be repeatable - that is, some inserts made in home-made conditions are out of the question. Once, somewhere, I "happened to the eye" the amount of several thousand zlotys for a complete laboratory test of the headlamp. Such a test can really be afforded by large factories that produce a given light source in tens of thousands of pieces. Otherwise, the profitability of this business is questionable.

And the consent of this "quinola" for processing is like? This consent must also be obtained when starting the homologation process.
I thought that the approval requirements cooled down the author's colleague, but it is different ...

Okay, I understand gentlemen :) you have tempered my ardor. I'll have to find a bigger manufacturer first and maybe suggest something to him

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the process of obtaining homologation for motorcycle lamps, specifically regarding the addition of LED strips to existing non-approved lamps. The author seeks information on the costs associated with homologation and whether each lamp model requires separate approval. Responses indicate that the cost of homologation can vary significantly, with estimates ranging from PLN 1,000 to several thousand zlotys, depending on the extent of testing required, which includes assessments of light distribution, visibility, and durability. Additionally, consent from the original lamp manufacturer is necessary for modifications. The author contemplates collaborating with a larger manufacturer to navigate the complexities of the approval process.
