I understand, but most likely it is a problem with some sensor or other part of the mechanism (e.g. some gear) - many printers signal any mechanical problem as a paper jam.

I don't know - maybe the manufacturer came up with such a "trick"...

    Hello!
Today I also had the same problem, I did not find anything interesting except this post was not there. It popped up after turning on "error E01"
I solved the problem myself - it was caused by a paper jam and you wished there was nothing but the printer did not work.
The same error popped up. Because there was nothing to see I pulled the head off forcefully (I figured there's nothing to lose)
and it turned out that underneath it was a piece of paper some garbage - so the head did not move. The printer immediately went back to normal.
It works and is fine. Good luck

Topic summary

The Epson SX230 printer displays error E01 immediately upon startup, indicating a paper jam, although no jam is present. Users suggest that the issue may stem from a malfunctioning sensor or mechanical component. One user resolved the error by forcibly removing the print head, discovering a piece of paper obstructing its movement, which restored normal function. Further troubleshooting may involve checking for hidden debris or resetting the printer.
