Epson SX230 shows error E01 at startup, no paper jam found, how to fix?

I understand, but most likely it is a problem with some sensor or other part of the mechanism (e.g. some gear) - many printers signal any mechanical problem as a paper jam.

I don't know - maybe the manufacturer came up with such a "trick"...

Today I also had the same problem, I did not find anything interesting except this post was not there. It popped up after turning on "error E01"
I solved the problem myself - it was caused by a paper jam and you wished there was nothing but the printer did not work.
The same error popped up. Because there was nothing to see I pulled the head off forcefully (I figured there's nothing to lose)
and it turned out that underneath it was a piece of paper some garbage - so the head did not move. The printer immediately went back to normal.
It works and is fine. Good luck
