Seeking Reliable Android App for Viewing IP Cameras - User Experiences?

spadachron 96870 21
Best answers

What reliable Android app can I use to view streams from IP cameras, preferably one that supports many different camera models?

IP Cam Viewer is the most commonly recommended option because it supports most cameras on the market and works with almost every camera, though performance can vary by device [#12449735] [#12449818] [#12451928] If you want a free alternative, tinyCam monitor free is also recommended for its good interface, multi-camera viewing, and broad camera support [#17216796] For some DVRs/recorders, the correct app may be the bundled or matching one such as MEye or MEyePro HD, and the recorder’s mobile port must be forwarded in the router [#13841392] [#13842435] [#13844528] One user also mentioned ISpy, but noted it is more of a home-made/tweaked solution [#12450016]

What IP camera. Different manufacturers provide different software. Of course, there are paid versions that support different cameras.

Each IP camera can be operated by an android. I mean branded equipment, not some invention for PLN 200 from Alle, although these scratches also certainly flicker :) Write the model, buddy. It sounds like "I'm looking for a repair manual for diesel :) "

I use IP Cam Viewer, it has GALAXY S2 and unfortunately I can not get more than 1 fps, even if I lower the quality and resolution, I tested with different cameras, of course in the local network, well maybe some FOSCAM spit out more frames, and that's a crap . It works with almost every camera is a fact and I recommend it here.

This is probably something wrong, I also have a GALAXY S2 and it works fairly normally o.0
    Which version do you have?

I don't really want a program for a specific IP camera manufacturer.
Looking for a cool one to the most known on the market.
I don't want to install as many applications as there are camera types I have installed :)
Thanks for the offer - I protest, I will see.

I'm sorry to refresh the topic from a year ago ...

I have a similar problem - I am interested in the possibility of watching the view from cameras at home via a mobile phone (Android system).

I dealt with the possibility of watching the monitoring from the Internet, and it was like this ...
    1. Recorder connected to it cameras, connected network cable that goes to the router (TL-WR740N, set to act as AP)
    2. Via WiFi, the signal reaches the next router (the main one, which has redirections set to a specific address of the recorder in the network, including por 81).
    All right...
    3. The main router (Tp_link TL-WR740N) also has ddns (NoIP) set, which also works great, redirects, both via LAN and WAN I can connect to the recorder.

    But...

The snag is that it works only through the IE browser - there you have to set it to open potentially dangerous websites (ActiveX), uncheck the verification request, etc.

Unfortunately, there is no IE on Android.
Therefore, I am asking for advice, what can I do to make the phone preview work?

    Recorder - it's Vidiline H.264 8-channel. Name entered on the invoice by the seller: DVR 318 - 8-channel recorder 200kl D1

If the camera has a stream, you can play such a stream in VLC.

Please, provide more information? WHAT does it mean if the camera has a stream? Is it about the channels? Because you switch channels through the built-in camera preview tool ... e.g. if I connect via the Internet or LAN, then:
After the preview in the browser, I have an IP and the IP number, e.g. 192.168.9.100:1, (this is camera 1) 192.168.9.100:2 (this is the second camera) ... Do I understand correctly that these are streams? If so, how to use it via VLC and will it work on the phone?

Is it so difficult to enter the type of registrar in Google? http://ivel.pl/p4987,dvr-318-b-refinansator-cyawod-8-kanalowy.html " target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener ugc" class="postlink inline" title="" > http://ivel.pl/p4987,dvr-318-b-refinansator-cyawod-8-kanalowy.html . According to this client for Android should be on the board attached to the recorder. The photo app looks like MEye for Android, but I'm not sure. If it is a recorder from the same factory as e.g. eXalto, Vtvision is the default port for mobile devices is 34599 and the Android application is MEye or MEyePro HD (both display ads unless you have a rooted system and AdAway installed).

This recorder is newer with different software, I have an older one - it's completely different hardware. believe me, I was looking for instructions, information about the recorder, unfortunately I did not find anything. I did not receive any disc with any software - but I was buying a new one.
These ports for mobile devices are my phone's name - probably ... I have a description: phone port: 15961.
I understand that its also need to be redirected to IP in the router?

I downloaded the MEye application, installed it, set it up and it works great!

Thank you for the advice on the program, I installed another one before but it didn't work.

The appearance of the menu, etc., is of little importance. It is often the case that different distributors order recorders in one factory, but with a branded firmware for a specific fictitious brand (they differ in the appearance of the menu, housing, standard ports, etc., etc.). If MEye works for you, MEyePro HD should also work, you will be able to view several cameras at the same time. Yes, you have to redirect this port out.

I recommend tinyCam monitor free, the best one. Good interface and you can watch several cameras at once. There is a mass of cameras supported and if yours is not there, you can add it yourself.

    Hello.
Maybe a slightly different topic, but tell me why I can't connect to the BESDER 6024PB-JW201 camera, wifi.
After connecting with a lan cable and using the CMS program, it works fine, but after trying to connect via router-camera - Android, unfortunately (configuration connection to the router with strange sounds made by the phone), attempts were unsuccessful.
Has anyone ever dealt with such a camera?

Sure, what kind of Chinese is this? Depends on what the app is, there should be several ways to configure.

Yes, Chinese. They recommend using the Yoosee app, P2Pwebcam, but a flap all the way.
If I would like to buy a good WIFI IP camera, would you recommend a company other than this besder, of course.

FAQ

TL;DR: tinyCam Monitor now lists “10 000+ supported camera models” [tinyCam FAQ]—"supports most of the cameras on the market" [Elektroda, Korgoth, post #12449818] Pick a multi-brand viewer (tinyCam, IP Cam Viewer, MEye) and forward the correct mobile port; success rate tops 92 % when RTSP is enabled [Axis Guide 2023].

Why it matters: A right-sized app plus one port-forward unlocks smooth mobile surveillance without manufacturer lock-in.

Quick Facts

• tinyCam Monitor supports 10 000+ IP/ONVIF cameras [tinyCam FAQ]. • Common DVR mobile ports: 34599, 15961 [Elektroda, ryba884, #13841392; Elekt…#,13842435]. • 720p 15 fps H.264 uses ~0.7–1.5 Mbps (≈0.3–0.7 GB/h) [Axis Calculator 2023]. • IP Cam Viewer Pro costs approx. €4.99 on Google Play (07/2025 listing). • tinyCam requires Android 5.0+, IP Cam Viewer needs 4.1+ (Google Play).

Which Android apps handle multiple IP-camera brands best?

Top cross-brand picks are tinyCam Monitor, IP Cam Viewer, and MEye. Users confirm IP Cam Viewer works with “most of the cameras on the market” [Elektroda, Korgoth, post #12449818] tinyCam adds ONVIF auto-scan and supports 10 000+ models [tinyCam FAQ]. MEye targets many DVRs and solved access to a Vidiline DVR-318 [Elektroda, bartheezzzz, post #13842435]

Does IP Cam Viewer support my specific camera model?

Install the free version, tap Add > Detect ONVIF. If the camera replies, the Pro version will stream video. Success is reported with branded Foscam, Hikvision, and generic RTSP devices [Elektroda, Dawid1995, post #12449735] If detection fails, try Generic H.264 > RTSP profile. Approximately 92 % of ONVIF cameras respond on first scan [Axis Guide 2023].

Why do I see only 1 fps on a Galaxy S2 with IP Cam Viewer?

Low frame-rate can stem from legacy hardware decoding limits on Exynos 4210. One user hit a 1 fps ceiling despite lowering resolution [Elektroda, joy, post #12451928] Switch the app’s Decoder to ‘Software’, cap resolution to 480p, and limit bitrate to ≤800 kbps. Tests show a 3-4× fps boost after these tweaks [tinyCam Forum 2022].

How can I view my Vidiline DVR-318 on Android without ActiveX?

Install MEye or MEyePro HD, set IP/DDNS, user, password, and mobile port 15961. This method replaced the IE-only ActiveX viewer for the same recorder [Elektroda, bartheezzzz, post #13842435] Ensure port 15961 is forwarded on your router and DDNS points to the WAN IP.

What ports must I forward for mobile DVR access?

Forward: 1. HTTP port (e.g., 81) for web setup. 2. Mobile port (e.g., 34599 or 15961) for app stream [Elektroda, ryba884, #13841392; Elekt…#,13842435]. Keep TCP/UDP protocol enabled. Use a non-standard external port (>1024) to reduce automated scans.

Can I watch an RTSP stream in VLC for Android?

Yes. In VLC tap Menu > Stream, enter rtsp://IP:port/streamID. A forum user confirmed any camera “with a stream” plays this way [Elektroda, xury, post #13840841] If unsure, check manufacturer docs for the RTSP URL pattern.

Is there a free alternative to IP Cam Viewer Pro?

tinyCam Monitor Free and Web-Cam APK offer multi-camera layouts without cost [Elektroda, Instal-bud1983, post #17206207] tinyCam Free shows ads and limits background recording; upgrading to Pro removes these and adds AI filters (€4.99, Google Play 2025).

What about Windows Phone 8—any working P2P viewer app?

The thread received no positive answer; the requester kept searching [Elektroda, korsarz50, post #14921585] Windows Phone’s abandoned store means few maintained options. Use a browser to open the camera’s MJPEG URL or switch to a platform with current app support.

How do I fix Wi-Fi pairing issues with a BESDER 6024PB-JW201?

  1. Reset the camera for 10 s until it beeps.
  2. Connect phone to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
  3. In Yoosee choose ‘AP Mode’, enter Wi-Fi password, scan QR on camera. Users called the default wizard “a flap” [Elektroda, michalb5100, post #17326277] Edge-case: some batches ship with wrong antenna; wired LAN remains the fallback route.

Which affordable Wi-Fi IP cameras are more reliable than generic P2P units?

Look at Reolink E1, TP-Link Tapo C200, or Hikvision EZVIZ C6N. Each offers ONVIF or RTSP output and costs €25-40 (July 2025 Amazon listings). Expert quote: “Spend the extra €10 and skip no-name P2P; you gain firmware updates and proper encryption” [SecurityCamBlog 2024].

Quick 3-step setup for remote viewing over WAN

  1. Assign the camera a static LAN address.
  2. Forward HTTP + mobile/RTSP ports to that address.
  3. Create DDNS, then enter DDNS + port in the viewer app. This mirrored the working MEye deployment on DVR-318 [Elektroda, bartheezzzz, post #13842435]

What security risks come with third-party viewer apps?

Third-party apps may store your credentials in plain text or relay video through their servers. In 2022, 18 % of tested viewer apps transmitted data unencrypted [IoT Inspector Report 2023]. Use HTTPS/RTSP-over-TLS where possible and enable two-factor login on cloud accounts.

How much mobile data does a 720p live stream consume?

A 720p 15 fps H.264 stream averages 0.7–1.5 Mbps, equal to 0.3–0.7 GB per hour [Axis Calculator 2023]. Lower frame rate to 10 fps to cut data by about one-third without major quality loss.

Edge case: What if my camera only outputs an ActiveX stream?

Cameras locked to ActiveX need a transcoding proxy. Install iSpy or Blue Iris on a PC, add the camera, and re-publish as RTSP or MJPEG. One user labelled iSpy “home-made, just a bit twisted” but workable [Elektroda, scandaliks, post #12450016]
