    Hello
I have a desktop computer. But I have a problem, I have a socket for headphones and a microphone in the front of the computer, but when I connect the headphones with a microphone, they do not work (when I plug on the back, the headphones work). How to fix it?

I had the same thing myself. The reason is simple - not connected sockets. I did not remove this defect myself due to the computer warranty (to be able to connect the socket, you have to disassemble the computer, and this unfortunately breaks the seal and void the warranty).
There is also a second possibility of no sound: incorrectly configuring the front panel output in the system settings.

I took off the left flap and everything is plugged in (including those sockets on the front), you could write me how to set the front panel in the system settings.

Well, check in realtek if everything is ok. You should have options to control each of the audio channels, check there and when you have the hatch open, check if all the contacts are working well at the inputs. :-)

Common topic. When you installed Windows 7 / Vista (you did not specify it, but I suspect), the basic driver for the Audio card is often installed (in the device manager as "HD compatible audio device" or something like that).

The solution is to install a dedicated driver. (If, of course, the described situation is correct).

    It's like this:
    I have win7
    The sound card is: RealtekALC882 / D / M @ Intel82801 GB ICH7
Cables from these connectors are OK

The headphone / microphone input on the front of the computer is not working

Write to me, dear, how should fp jacks work if you have them dimmed in the mixer?
Mix this mixer so that it is active, then check it.

    Added after 2 [minutes]:

Maybe you have disabled in the BIOS - as a friend advises - take a look there!

The headphone / microphone input on the front of the computer is not working
Click on that yellow folder seems to and tick off what is checked.

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

The green and pink circles on the right in the center should light up.

as safbot1st says in the yellow folder, activate the front panel and check if they will work, if not, either you have disconnected (maybe something does not connect) or in the bios it is turned off or changed
for example, on Realtek97 which I also had such a case as I remember correctly on ECS Geforce 6100SM-M and it was necessary to switch to Realtek HD then the front started to work

And how do you "turn on the detection" what happens?

But you put a jack in the front panel then?
Give screenshots of what you have under the advanced button set. devices.

If you have a damaged microphone or headphones input, instead of disassembling the entire laptop, you can buy a USB adapter, I checked everything, I didn't have headphones, first one played, then none after time, it was cheaper than repairing it in the service, etc., I bought it :

possibly white is what you want:

@Yakers Try to enable "simultaneous playback".
@Jachac Instead of setting the device correctly, according to You better ... buy new ...?
Unless you have too much money ...
    According to me, as above:

Or "good old" bugs / not fully thought out solutions in the controls of Realtek.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a desktop computer's front headphone and microphone input not functioning, while the rear input works correctly. Users suggest several troubleshooting steps, including checking the physical connections of the front panel, configuring audio settings in the Realtek mixer, and ensuring the correct audio drivers are installed. Recommendations also include checking BIOS settings to ensure the front panel is enabled. If hardware issues persist, a USB audio adapter is proposed as a cost-effective alternative to repair.
