    Hello,

I installed AvP 2 and this message pops up: "could not set d3d emulation mode".

I have linux Mint (latest, updated). I put a VBox on it and I made a virtual XP prof.

The graphics card that XP sees is emulated. So there are no other drivers for it as soon as Guest Additions. I installed this full grazing, including the 3d option.
I installed Directx with a different number (I know that 11 is for win7 but I tried anyway).
The dxdiag command in the run pane, tabs:
    1. system - digital signatures test - disabled
    2. directx files - I have messages that: d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll are in old versions. reinstall dx to solve the problem. As I wrote above, it does not give anything.
    3. screen - acceleration of direct draw and direct3d are on and working. There are no messages about problems.

I reinstalled the game several times, re-installed the system several times, uploaded various directx, played with compatibility, the amount of colors and what came to my mind.

It seems to me that the message about files in older versions is caused by a graphics conflict between XP and Mint. But I'm not sure and I do not know how to check it out.
My laptop has a hybrid graphics card, but I do not know if this will generate a problem.

3 days of sitting and I can not come across a solution. And the game is not about the ambition of solving the problem, the forge.

... and you have drivers with acceleration under Mint? Do you use open drivers or nVidia? VirtualBox for gaming is rather average.
