    Hey.

I'm having trouble using windows 10, where many things don't work. Recently, I decided to vacuum some old stuff, what can I do to make MTW1 work properly? The game is installed, I'm trying to turn it on - first, the game turns on and off 20 times (game / desktop flashing alternately). After some time, a progress bar appears and when it reaches 100% - the game turns off.

How can I solve this? Do you need any additional information? Can I count on help?

I have an Intel HD Graphics 5500 card.

    I tried in combination: 16bit + W7 and 16bit + XP (Service Pack 3) - without any result.

If you're talking about updates - are these the graphics card? Yes, they are the latest.

I have never installed any such patches, it worked without any tricks on W7. What are these patches, and where can you get them?

If the game is secured (drm etc.) then it probably won't work under W10, but you can check with the fix, it can then run:
    https://www.gamecopyworld.eu/games/pc_medieva...html#Medieval:%20Total%20War%20Game%20Updates
(Medieval: Total War MODERN SYSTEMS CRASH / BAD TEXTURE FIX for this, e.g. Medieval: Total War v1.1 [ENGLISH] No-CD Loader)

    Install updates early:

I did this v1.1 game update first and after that the game doesn't even start.

Then I added this .ddl file to the game's main folder - no result.

    Any other ideas, what now?

Still modified exe that doesn't require a disc (Medieval: Total War v1.1 [ENGLISH] No-CD Loader.).

Can we determine the order in which to use these three files?

    Because we have:
    update to v1.1,
    .ddl file
    and this modified exe.

    Exactly as above?

What about the compatibility to set?

I have the Gold Edition. I have currently uninstalled it so that everything is from scratch. Therefore, he will install it again. Could you write me what to do step by step?

    To Gold you install:
Total War - Gold Edition v2.01 Patch (you'll find on google)
Medieval: Total War MODERN SYSTEMS CRASH / BAD TEXTURE FIX
Medieval: Total War - Gold Edition v2.01 [ENGLISH] No-DVD / Fixed Image

I took the first two steps:

Total War - Gold Edition v2.01 Patch (you'll find on google) >>> is it like 'crack'? I actually changed the file - was that it? The game effect does not start at all.

Medieval: Total War MODERN SYSTEMS CRASH / BAD TEXTURE FIX - I added this .ddl file to the main folder

I can't do the third step well, could anyone help?

No, it's upgrade to version 2.01. You didn't specify your version of the file, you may already have this patch.
I don't know how you can help more, no one will do it for you. On the page you have what to do.

I come back to this forum after a year ... with the same problem, a bit funny, but a bit scary.

He tries to solve the problem again, but it is beyond me again. Is there a chance for any help?

A year ago, this wonderful system probably did not have such implemented features as the current updates :D
The version of the kernel itself has changed as well.

Unfortunately, it did not succeed, on your advice I checked all W10 updates (done) + I installed the game again. Here we go again. Uploads and crashes onto the desktop at the last minute.

Where to start now? This is MTW1 Gold Edition. I don't want to play in the second system yet. Any advice please?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting issues with Medieval Total War 1 (MTW1) on Windows 10, particularly concerning flashing screens and crashes during startup. The user experiences repeated game launches and desktop flashing, followed by a progress bar that leads to a crash. Suggested solutions include setting compatibility modes to Windows XP or 7, using 16-bit color settings, and ensuring all game patches are installed. The user is advised to install the Total War - Gold Edition v2.01 Patch, a modern systems crash fix, and a No-CD loader. Despite following these steps, the user continues to face issues, prompting further inquiries about the correct installation order and compatibility settings. Alternative solutions, such as running the game on a virtual machine with an older Windows version, are also proposed.
