Hello. I don't know if I posted in the right section, if not, I apologize in advance.
I have a problem with a strange behavior of the boiler at home. Well, when the hot water is opened, it sounds like something shot in the boiler. This only happens when hot water is dropped, everything is ok when cold. I will add that there is definitely nothing airy. I wonder if it could be due to the scale that has settled in the boiler??? What to do with it so as not to spoil anything

Probably such a noise is caused by a sudden decrease in pressure and thus the sheet metal bends, it causes such noises.

So nothing bad is happening? I'm asking because I've never heard anything like this before. But I will drain the water from the entire system anyway to release what has collected at the bottom. However, when venting the entire installation (I have horseshoes in the coal kitchen), is it enough to turn on the taps and run the main water supply? Is there anything else I need to do to vent everything

Check (observation with a manometer) whether the supply pressure reducer and the expansion vessel connected to the tank work properly.

I have a horizontal boiler, at the bottom there is an outlet which is fitted with a safety valve and a valve for draining the water. At the top there is a hot water outlet that goes to the taps, and on the side there are two thick pipes that go to the horseshoe.

    Good morning

I wanted to share my case. When the hot water was turned on in the sink, which was located very close to the boiler, a very loud noise began to be emitted, comparable to the sound of a hammer drill.
I would like to add that I have 6x Lemet vertical boilers with a capacity of 60 l. They are used only in the summer season, as of today it is the 6th season.
Coming back to the fault, the first thing I did was replace the check valve. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was wrong, after replacing the valve, the symptoms remained the same. I was already planning to replace the corrugated steel hoses under the boiler, suspecting that they might have worn out under the influence of water resistance. I was about to buy alupex + screwed connectors, when in the store the service suggested to me that it could be the result of a worn / damaged battery.
I decided to replace the battery as I had one spare.
As a result, the installation runs silently like new :)

    Regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user's concern regarding a shooting sound from their horizontal boiler when hot water is used, which is not present when cold water is drawn. Possible causes identified include sudden pressure changes causing metal bending, issues with the safety valve, and scale buildup. Recommendations include checking the supply pressure reducer, expansion vessel, and safety valve functionality. One user shared a similar experience with Lemet vertical boilers, where replacing a faulty check valve and a damaged battery resolved the noise issue, leading to silent operation.
