Connecting VCR to Samsung UE22ES5000W TV: Step-by-Step Guide for Old Video Playback

How do I connect an old VCR to a Samsung UE22ES5000W TV, and which TV socket should I use?

Connect the VCR to the TV with either a SCART/Euro cable if both devices have SCART, or with cinch (RCA) cables to the composite input. The most specific wiring given is: VCR video out to the TV’s Y/VIDEO input and VCR audio out to the TV’s Audio L input [#13859424] [#13861184] After that, open the TV Input Source menu and select the Composite/AV input [#13861184] [#13861249] If you still get no picture or sound, check that the cable is plugged into the correct outputs/inputs and that the VCR itself is working; dirty heads or a faulty socket were also suggested as possible causes [#13861235] [#13861432]

The VCR probably has an antenna output and an antenna input. Connect the antenna to the input and the TV antenna input to the output. Ew look for cinch outputs and connect with them. I can see the TV set with such inputs.

Pictures of course would be useful, but the description of the sockets is quite obvious, except for the "DVD cable". I can't figure it out :(

The description clearly shows that the VCR has a Composite + Audio mono input / output. Actually, a bit older.

You can use the Component input sockets for connection - from the description you can see that these sockets can be switched to Composite mode.

    Also my friend Krzysztof Kulma:

VCR Video Out -> 1 Y / VIDEO input (TV)
VCR Audio Out -> Audio L input (TV)

Make the connections with CINCH cables.

After connecting on the TV, in the Input Source menu, please find the Composite input and select it.

    Good luck :)

I hope a colleague turned on some cassette to check this VCR.
And he chose the Composite input correctly.
This "DVD cable" is what kind of cable? My guess is that it's probably Scart from the TV side. And what are the plugs on the DVD side?

Also bear in mind that if this is an old VCR it may be out of order. Or with very dirty heads.

Well, I do not know if my friend will have any consolation from this VCR.

I would suggest a thorough cleaning according to the rules of the art.

For peace of mind, please also check the connection on the other CINCH cables. Just in case.

    Good luck :)

    These are two possibilities:
    - damaged VCR at the outputs where you connected the cables,
    - user fault when connecting the VCR to the TV.

Give photos of what, how, with what and where you connected, because so far we know so much that you don't know anything!

Hello. I have a problem with the correct connection of the VCR and TV. The point is that for me this configuration allows for recording and playback, while in my case, using the same connection (I will explain in a moment), the VCR only plays back, i.e. displays the image from the cassette. The problem is that the video is not recorded on the cassette, but the sound. Connection with euro video> tv. What causes it to not download the picture to the VCR? Samsung TV, LG VCR. After all, this is a universal in / out connection and I do not understand why only voice is recorded. When I turn on playback, the picture from the cassette is played, because it is visible, but it is black. You can see, because if there is a bend in the tape, the strip passes.

I'm sorry, but when you do everything at once, it's hard not to omit details. What archeology again, if I wrote back as in the subject and in my opinion it is binding. Samsung UE32J5000 TV, LG V280 VCR and LG LH-C 360 SE. One of my colleagues from this forum sent me a reply via e-mail, so thank you for the friendly atmosphere. The fault was on the TV side - damaged SCART socket.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around connecting an old VCR to a Samsung UE22ES5000W TV. Users suggest various connection methods, including using the antenna output/input, cinch (RCA) cables, and SCART connections. The VCR typically has RF in/out and audio/video in/out ports. Users emphasize the importance of selecting the correct input source on the TV and ensuring the VCR is functioning properly, as issues like no signal or weak signal may arise. Some users also mention the need for cleaning the VCR heads and checking cable connections. A follow-up query highlights a related issue with a different setup involving an LG VCR and Samsung TV, where only audio is recorded, indicating potential problems with the SCART socket.
