    Hello,

The key for MINI ONE 2006 does not work. No. key according to BMW: 66126931748. I probably damaged the board when trying to open it to replace the battery. Price in BMW PLN 650 + mandatory coding PLN 350.

    Question:
    1) where can you buy such a key cheaper?
    2) If I buy a used key and replace the plate, will I be able to program it myself?

What makes you think you damaged it? After replacing the battery, it still doesn`t work?

Ad2 It is not possible to recode a used key

Ad1 Unfortunately, you won`t save much. I think that the complete service outside the dealership will cost about PLN 700. Look for advertisements on well-known portals.

Btw. Describe what is wrong with the central locking or lack of response when trying to start the car

I opened the key just to check what battery model it was, then closed it and since then the central locking has not worked.

    1) How to check if the key is sending a signal?
    2) Recommended specialists from the Wrocław area?

In this model, you do not have a regular battery, but a rechargeable battery that charges when you insert the key into the ignition. If it stopped working earlier, it means it`s already dead. After replacement, you need to code the central remote control. If the remote control does not work after your intervention, check whether you have accidentally interrupted the connections between the battery and the board.

As for checking, try to synchronize the central locking remote control

Get in the car, close the door
Turn the ignition on and off
Press and hold the car unlock button
While holding the unlock button, press the door lock button three times within 10 seconds (on the remote control, of course)
After this, the car should lock and unlock automatically.
If everything is OK with the remote control, you should go through this procedure without any problems

    Regards

I located the cold solder joint after the last battery replacement. I hope this is the main cause of the remote not working. I`ll let you know next week. best regards and thanks for your support Alternatives for Replacing Damaged MINI ONE 2006 Key - Options and DIY Programming

It`s not only cold solder but also thermally damaged insulation... the battery probably has a short circuit. This is a THT assembly, soldering should be done on the opposite side of the board. These plates are bent so as not to overheat the battery during soldering, but it can be seen that the person who soldered it is not skilled in using a soldering iron and/or did not have a good soldering iron.

I`m just curious why someone would push the soldering iron in this place when the battery has plates prepared for assembly and soldering from the other side.

The height of laziness, there is plenty of it on a well-known auction website. Is it difficult to enter the name in the search engine?

can you read? I asked about exactly the same battery as in the photo. All the VL2020s I find have the boards in different places.

No pieces, just look carefully, you have two types of plates. Some fit without any wire.

:) Yes, after bending it will fit. I use a slightly different version of these batteries, but they fit. Just bend carefully, these plates can only be bent once.
