Hello, I was looking for answers to a few questions about the signal strength and dashes shown in win 7 on the bar at the bottom, but I did not find:
1 Why on a desktop computer + http://www.edimax.com/edimax/merchandise/merc...imax/global/wireless_adapters_n150/ew-7711in/ at signal strength - 70 dBm measured with inSSIDer, there is only 2 range bars and internet can get cut sometimes and why on a laptop at -74 dBm there are 3 lines of range and there is no problem with the Internet at all?

2 Why does the speed change (this is probably the maximum speed that can be achieved for a given coin on a connection)

WiFi signal strength expressed in dBm and the number of bars in the bar in wines WiFi signal strength expressed in dBm and the number of bars in the bar in wines And when it drops to 24Mb / s, the internet stops working, despite the fact that the signal strength is still -70 dBm, where on the laptop there is always 150 Mb / s in this field.

What does it depend on the sensitivity of the cards?
3 question just out of curiosity, how is it that there is a straight line at the neostrada all the time the signal does not jump, and at other networks it jumps, what does it depend on?

Signal strength around -70dBm and below this level is a real problem with stability.

And how to explain the fact that on a laptop it is lower, because -74 sometimes even -79 dBm and there are 3 lines of range and the internet is flashing all the time without a problem. Problems start above -83 dBm? In addition, the same laptop in a different place in the city with the same signal strength where the ether is very clogged and practically free was only the 4th channel also receives the Internet on a distance of about 40 m and through 2 walls of the spot spot?

There is no need to compare different devices and lines in the system. The limit is -70dBm where at this signal value the connection may or may not be 100% unstable. Please note that many electromagnetic disturbances are not visible in inSSIDer and different models of wireless devices can "get along" better than others.

Then what better to get along with the livebox? Everything was fine until the neighbor had to move it to another place because so far the signal was -64 and there were no major problems.
As for the dashes in the system, I thought that if both systems are the same, the dashes should change with the same dBm value. In the stationary one, when it jumped to -69 dBm, it jumped to the third line, which in the laptop was already the fourth.

    Added after 6 [minutes]:

And one more question, would it make sense to change such an antenna allegro ready WiFi signal strength expressed in dBm and the number of bars in the bar in wines
I would like to add that for the stationary, only one scania is an obstacle because the antenna from this grate hangs outside and the laptop achieves such signal strength through 2 walls.

1 Mapping the signal strength to dashes is the programmer's whim from the controller. They set up a bit different thresholds.
A laptop may have a slightly more sensitive receiver and therefore less reception problems.
2 The speed is changing because it's a radio. The conditions in the radio environment are changing all the time. The more advanced the modulation, the better the signal it needs (with higher S / N ratio). At the moment, there is more noise = worse signal = lower speed.
The controller does not need to show the actual speed available.
3 The reasons may be different. The lower the signal level, the more significant the noise is, so the measurement is with greater error. There may be a greater proportion of reflections in the radio signal (in the absence of direct visibility of the antenna)

The number of strokes does not suggest anything.
There are devices in which you can define yourself at what signal level, how many dashes (here are LEDs).

Try the tplink antenna, 8dbi, the one on the stand.

Maybe I did not express myself precisely, currently there is such an antenna tp link http://www.tp-link.com.pl/products/details/?model=TL-ANT2406A and I wonder if the antenna gain would increase if I used a biquad antenna and I found such a ready on the Allegro for PLN 10 WiFi signal strength expressed in dBm and the number of bars in the bar in wines and I would not like to invest too much in buying some more expensive antennas because the person using this connection is not very dependent on the constant use of the Internet, so if it can be improved cheaply, yes, and if not, it is to stay as old as it is and will only use it when the connection will be stable because the internet is only for entertainment.
And this 8dbi is a stick, I would have to think about a stand that could work outside, and so I would only solder the cable to this biquad from this paneling, and the panel is supposed to be better than these sticks, so the seller advised me when I bought that tp panel link.

And from what I deduced, a longer antenna does not always give a better range http://waihung.net/tp-link-2-4ghz-8dbi-indoor-omni-directional-antenna-tl-ant2408cl/

Unfortunately, the signal has worsened recently and so I thought that maybe the improvement of the link would be if I used TP-LINK TL-WA5210G because I would not have a loss on the cable to the network card and the additional antenna is twice as powerful and could possibly visit the entire balcony in looking for a better coverage, someone will advise if there is a chance to improve this link using this equipment?

In order not to assume a new topic and this is the case, I will write what problem I have with the configuration of the nanostation 2 antenna in connection with the livebox 2 via wi-fi. Namely, after connecting to the network as a station, there is no internet, and as in the Network tab and switching from static to Dhcp, I can not go to the antenna at all. Will someone help how to configure it correctly? As I previously connected this antenna with 543g tp link, I did not have such problems and the internet worked normally.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the discrepancies in WiFi signal strength and performance between a desktop and a laptop, both using different wireless adapters. The desktop, equipped with an Edimax EW-7711In, shows a signal strength of -70 dBm with only 2 bars, leading to intermittent internet connectivity. In contrast, the laptop, with a signal strength of -74 dBm, consistently displays 3 bars and maintains stable internet access. Participants note that signal strength below -70 dBm can lead to instability, and variations in device sensitivity and environmental factors can affect performance. The conversation also touches on the impact of antenna types on signal quality, with suggestions for potential upgrades, including a TP-Link antenna and a biquad antenna. Additionally, the discussion highlights the complexities of interpreting signal strength indicators and the influence of electromagnetic interference on connection stability.
