And where do you see the television there? There's some kind of sticker plate that slides out. Doing such a thing is not a problem. The problem will be with the TV. Or more precisely with all kinds of cables.

You won't be able to do it yourself at home - at most a hand-opened door made of plasterboard . :D So you would have to contract a specialist company to make . The cost of the mechanism will far exceed the price of a good TV . But nowadays you can do everything , why not ?

I suspect microcontroller, stepper motors and/or IR sensors.

By the way, I wonder what happens to the retracted "TV" from the film as we fire up the fireplace :D

As for the slide-out TV solution, a game not worth the candle. A HD projector with a pull-down screen will come out cheaper.

An electric actuator, such as the FDI series, can be used with peace of mind for this purpose.

As far as cable problems are concerned, they can easily be solved by using cable guides from CNC machines - readily available, for example, from Allegro.

This actuator is not suitable,it must not be self-locking.In case of failure,it must be possible to move manually.

You can always use the option of unlocking one of the fixings (pulling the pin or key lock - whatever). This is a more secure solution in case of an emergency or power failure. For this, you can always use air springs (like in car boots) - the TV won't sink under its weight, and the actuator will also have a lighter weight with each cycle. The FDI is quiet and has few failures. Are you looking for decoupling like there is on automatic gates?
