Lenowo G580 BIOS Update: Facing Error 255 TDK Library Initialization Failure

How can I fix Lenovo G580 BIOS update error 255: TDK library initialization failed?

The Lenovo BIOS flasher is meant to run from a supported 32/64-bit Windows environment, and Error 255 usually means the TDK library could not initialize in the current setup [#14510349] Use the correct package for your OS, `62cn40ww_32.exe` for 32-bit or `62cn40ww_64.exe` for 64-bit, and run it as administrator [#14510349] If it still fails, try setting the BIOS boot mode to Legacy and flashing from an older Windows installation or USB-booted older OS; one reply says this error appears on Win10 and newer, while XP through Windows 8 works [#14518289] [#21688900] If that does not help, the remaining option mentioned was reprogramming the BIOS chip with a programmer or having a service do it [#15255422]

Today I wanted to update my bios, because apparently in the new one you can switch graphics cards (i.e. on which the computer is supposed to work now). Unfortunately, when you try to run the update installer, it displays something like this:
error 255 tdk library initialization failed

    What's next?

    Installing the package in Windows.
    ======================
    1. This BIOS is only for Windows 7 32/64.
Check your OS is x86(32bit) or x64. Locate the file 62cn40ww_32 or 62cn40ww_64 that has been downloaded.
    2. Run 62CN40WW_YY.exe as administrator .
(62cn40ww_32.exe is for X86 system; 62cn40_64.exe is for X64 system).
    3. This program will flash new BIOS to your PC without interventions, at last PC will auto restart.

In bios, I have a choice of Switchable Graphics and UMA Graphics Bogdan K .

DriverMSG I also read that note. I have Win 7 64bit, I download the bios file to my 62cn40ww_64.exe system and when I run it as admin, this error keeps popping up.

Your case is not alone. Enter the exact model of your laptop - write down all the data from the sticker underneath it.

As I mentioned earlier, I do not have such an option in bios in this tab. The only options are:
UEFI boot: I have it set to "off", then I have:
    Disk
    CD
    Network

I understand that the problem is probably hard to solve ...
I thought maybe UEFI had something to do with it. "I turned on" but it did not help, the error still pops up.

    "Run 62CN40WW_YY.exe as administrator.
    (62cn40ww_32.exe is for X86 system; 62cn40_64.exe is for X64 system) "

The problem is that on the lenovo servers there is only the file ... 32.exe, and when enabling the download of the file ... 64.exe the installation instructions are displayed.

I had a similar problem - but I did not think about reprogramming with the programmer. However, I am curious if it can be solved differently.
On the other hand, if you care about time, that's the only way to solve it. Unfortunately, you can only do it in a service (for a fee).
You can buy a cheap programmer and do it yourself, but you need to have some knowledge.

The problem is in OS, you need to flash the bios under WINXP-Windows8, from Win10 and higher, it throws this error. You have to download some USB Flash with older OS, as a HirensBoot, in BIOS disable the secureboot, set the booting for legay and eufi, and boot from the usb to the old one OS. Here, you can flash the bios without problems.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a BIOS update issue for the Lenovo G580 laptop, where the user encounters "Error 255 TDK Library Initialization Failure" during the installation process. The user is attempting to update the BIOS to enable graphics card switching but is unable to proceed due to the error. Various suggestions are provided, including verifying the operating system version (Windows 7 32/64-bit), running the installer as an administrator, and checking BIOS settings for options like Legacy mode and UEFI boot.
