I bought a Banner battery, but to be honest, I have some doubts about it. So I checked its production date. From what I found on the forum, the date is hidden in the letters on the battery and for me they are the letters CFBD - from what I found on the forum, they mean the 25th week of 2013.

And now the question, please advise, is it normal that the battery is bought from almost two years ago?

Once I read an article about batteries, in which they advised not to buy batteries in supermarkets because the batteries can be even several years there, and in addition, no one controls their condition and does not subject them to periodic recharging.
Maybe this topic will help you a little:

    BANNER battery codes:
Banner battery - battery purchase date versus production date .

    Example of embossing on the battery: [DBBG T AC34 K] - the first 4 characters (embossed at " - " ) is the week/year of production, i.e. 3116 [Week 31, 2016].

    ***EDIT***
I would also like to add that 2 days ago I just received a battery from this company, exactly the model [BANNER Power Bull 80Ah 700A P8014].
    - Yesterday night it was -12°C, today -14°C and in the morning the car burns from the first shot :) .

    ***EDIT***
    10.01.2018
Until today zero problems with firing up, maybe the frosts were not great but recently the car stands not used 1-2 days and it fires up without any problems.

    ***EDIT***
    27.02.2018
Harsh frosts arrived (-18°C), after and so far zero problems starting the car. (Ford Focus 1.8TDDi 90KM)

    ***EDIT***
    24.01.2020
I continue to use the battery, I go away from work for 2-3 days on business trips, the car stands under a cloud, when I come back I get in and it fires without any problems.
The only thing is that every 2 months (due to commuting, short distances) I connect it to the charger so that it is properly charged (I use YATO YT-8301 charger)
YATO YT-8301 battery charger for charging batteries. .

    ***EDIT***
    16.01.2021
Last years winters were mild, today again harsh frosts (-17°C), so far no problems starting the car.
There were also frosts (-27°C), it only took 2 times to heat the plugs and it smokes without problems.

    ***EDIT***
    20.02.2024
For information I will write that the battery is doing well, over the winter I had no problem with starting, once a month connected to the charger, when there were greater frosts it was more often and is doing well.

    ***EDIT***
    29.11.2024
For information I will write that the battery recently had a problem at the first frosts, but I connected to the charger 2 Saturdays in a row for a slow charge and so far it has recovered.
When more frosts come, it remains to be seen whether it has reached the end of its life, or whether it will still work :) .

    ***EDIT***
    24.03.2025
The battery is still alive, it had problems at higher frosts, but the cause was not the battery itself but faulty glow plugs, after replacing the glow plugs and recharging the battery, the problem with firing up even in cold weather does not occur, and the battery still works without problems after 2 recharges and adding water.

I have a bmw banner and a ZC45 0 positive clamp wheel stamped on it - what could be the production date?

It was on the ori bmw from the banner that I finally found the negative terminal, but that the battery was used, it was already difficult to see.

    2015 production

    Added after 47 [minutes]:

But these markings next to the terminal are supposed to be some sort of order of production and it has nothing to do with production

atomic99 great job with the acumen of working with the battery for so many years, write when it dies.

A few days ago I replaced a battery with the designation ECBEL AA25T --> 42 wks. 2014, so it was almost 10 years old :) .

The battery is still alive, it had problems at higher frosts, but the cause was not the battery itself but faulty glow plugs,
after replacing the spark plugs and recharging the battery, the firing problem is no longer there even in the cold, and the battery still works without problems after 2 recharges and adding water.

Topic summary

The discussion addresses concerns about the production date of Banner batteries relative to their purchase date. Banner battery production dates are encoded in embossed letter codes on the battery casing, where letters correspond to numbers indicating the production week and year (e.g., CFBD translates to the 25th week of 2013). It is common for batteries to be sold years after production, especially if stored in retail environments without proper maintenance such as periodic recharging. Users report that despite older production dates, Banner batteries can perform reliably for several years if properly maintained. The production date code is typically found near the negative terminal. Examples of decoding include letter-to-digit mappings (A=0, B=1, C=2, etc.) and formats like "DBBG" representing week and year. Some users shared long-term usage experiences with Banner batteries, including models like 80AH 700A POWER BULL and ECBEL AA25T, noting good performance even after multiple years and under harsh cold conditions, provided the battery is recharged and maintained. The discussion highlights the importance of verifying production dates and understanding that purchase date may not reflect battery age, which can impact battery condition and performance.
