Hello, first of all I would like to point out that I am a layman and I came here looking for an answer to a problem that bothered me through Google.

So the problem is as follows: At home, I have an antenna on the roof for receiving regular digital TV, connected to a T-connector with an amplifier, three cables go from the T-connector to three rooms - that`s all I need to describe what the installation looks like.

I have two TVs: one quite modern and one a bit older (the latter has an mpeg4 decoder purchased separately).
The TV with a built-in decoder works normally, but on the older one, after connecting, the message "antenna short circuit" appears.

A puzzle: if I replace this older TV with a borrowed "modern" one (one with a built-in decoder), i.e. I have two "new" ones connected, both of them work.

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

    Regards

Maybe the decoder has the power supply option for the antenna amplifier turned on and sees the tee as a DC short circuit.
Check in the decoder menu if this is not the case.

    option_1

Try to play with the "antenna power" function. Most TVs and decoders have such a function. If it is turned on, try turning it off in the decoder, and vice versa, if it is turned off, turn it on and see what the effect will be.

    option_2

It is possible that the decoder is faulty or damaged

    option_3

Try disconnecting the antenna amplifier from the power supply and see if the short circuit still persists.

What kind of tee is it, exactly, what does it look like and where is the power supply in this installation?

This message is given to you by the decoder and they have already told you what to look for . Turn off the antenna power in the decoder.

to the tee with the amplifier,
I won`t write anymore, but isn`t it logical that it has? active splitter ?
Unless the author doesn`t know what he`s writing?

The problem was solved by turning off the antenna power option in the decoder menu. Thanks for the help :)
