I have a smart card reader in one of my laptops.
Out of curiosity, I put my ATM card there ( ) and W7x64 detected the device and began to search on the net but did not find it. The reader itself works properly in the system.

My question is, what can such a reader be practically used for?
Maybe it is better to remove it from the computer to save energy and resources.?

Smart card login is supported by Active Directory. With a system without AD access, the smart card login was supported by the EIDAuthenticate program - look, I only logged in on the network with AD.
