I recently replaced the gas and electric cooker. It turned out that the previous stove was placed on a kind of raised platform / plate, which was screwed to it so as to be level with the neighboring worktops. This base could not be reused, it was taken away along with the old kitchen. The new one, after insertion, is 40mm lower than the table tops, with the leveling legs fully extended. Please see the picture. My question is: can you leave it like that, and if not, what to put under the bottom of a new kitchen to raise its level? Ordinary wooden board is enough?

It is advisable that the hob is at the same height as the worktops, note that when using larger pots, the flame may reach just those of the worktops.

This is what I am afraid of. Can you just put a wooden board underneath it will lose this difference, or does it have to be some special mat / board for this purpose?

These 4 cm are neither a dog nor an otter, you need to use a solution that will be functional and aesthetic. If you can, insert a photo from the front of the kitchen, taking into account the original feet.

Can the remaining countertops with cabinets be lowered to the level of the kitchen? I have the impression that at the moment they are too high, unless they were made to order and were supposed to be of such height.

There is no such option, I have already bought a flat with a ready kitchen and as I wrote in the first post, the previous gas stove had a screwed up platform (some DIY), but I was not able to translate it into a new stove.

It remains in this arrangement to apply the same solution.

Do you think that an ordinary MDF board of the appropriate height (40mm) is enough for this?

Looking at the second photo, I estimate that the distance between the floor and the bottom edge of the oven is about 3-5 cm. In my opinion, blocks made of a 40mm board should be placed under the stove's feet and the whole thing should be masked with a plinth similar to that in the adjacent cabinets. The height of the plinth will result from the sum of the current distance and the above-mentioned 40mm. You can get the board and cutting it in any DIY store.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation of a Bosch gas-electric cooker that is 40mm lower than the surrounding countertops. The user seeks advice on whether it is acceptable to leave the cooker at this height or how to raise it to be level with the worktops. Responses suggest that the hob should ideally be at the same height as the countertops to prevent issues with larger pots and flames. Suggestions include using a wooden board or MDF board of appropriate height (40mm) under the cooker’s feet, with the possibility of masking the height difference with a plinth similar to adjacent cabinets. The feasibility of lowering existing countertops was also considered but deemed not possible in this case.
