Hello, I ask a short and simple question. I have a refrigerator that is 20 years old (please do not laugh) and I want to know whether to buy a new one or I can use the old one a bit.
The problem is that in the glaciers they do not hold the door for me, I close it and it opens anyway when I press it, they still hold it.
I washed the gasket and it is not rubbed or cut all inches which can be the cause of this defect?

Probably stiffness, rubber hardness due to aging.

I will add that the freezer works fine.

A flexible magnet is hidden around the perimeter of the seal and it presses the door against the refrigerator housing. Perhaps it has already lost its properties.

check if you can replace the gasket in this refrigerator (look in the network, in websites), if you can buy it and replace it, if you can't, it is not profitable to buy a new refrigerator door, then buy a new refrigerator - it will be more energy-efficient.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 20-year-old refrigerator that fails to maintain a proper seal due to a malfunctioning door gasket. The user inquires whether to repair the old unit or purchase a new one. Responses suggest that the rubber gasket may have hardened over time, losing its flexibility and effectiveness. A hidden flexible magnet within the gasket may also have deteriorated. Recommendations include checking for a replacement gasket online and considering the energy efficiency of a new refrigerator if repairs are not feasible.
